Well I sure hope you are correct, with apologies to delayed April/May/June OC delivery windows. Still, when I Clintonparse that email I can’t get it to sound like anything other than Thank you for committing to your purchase last week for delivery in the April/May May/June timeframe we’ve stuck to since last Fall…yeah, about that…see, we’ve decided to scramble the delivery order again, this time by color and wheel size. If you don’t hear from us s00n or see pictures of your color combination in SC spy shots, we’ll try to give you an idea of where your batch of color and wheel choice are in the production queue by the end of May. S00n, we hope….

Like I said, I hope you’re correct…

Hope so too. I really should have just bought a vehicle back in December, now I am being pushed against a wall waiting for a new vehicle to do some summer things sigh.

So Rivian stating something like "executed OC PBAs will be fulfilled as comitted" would solve the problem?
it help those folks with PBAs and OC wondering if they are delayed or not

thats the problem.... we dont know. another comms blunder.

if they had said "those with PBA's will (or will not) recieve your vehicles as planned", that would help eliminate confusion. but as the OP said, we've been scaringed.
Exactly this…

You're correct. My intro guide call is on Friday. I'll certainly be trying to get a better understanding of the overall impact (and impact on my specific situation) when I talk to her.
I’m glad to hear you finally got a guide! Fingers crossed that you get delivery very soon!

Exactly this…
…and more to the point not just the recent PBAs but all LEs as well. There was more than a touch of jumping the line grouchiness when a few non LEs showed up in the wild. Now if your color isn’t chosen…

IMO, this is about one thing only - cash flow.
They have 18.6 billion in cash on-hand and literally zero people are looking for them to be profitable any time soon. Everyone is looking at one thing - production ramp.

IMO, this is about one thing only - maximizing production.

This forum represents the hardcore pre-order holders. The rest of the world (probably 95% of reservation holders) has no idea what a PBA is. So, you certainly don't want to break into jail by introducing confusion to the 95% (what's a pba, when will I get one, should I have one) by talking about a scenario that affects a few hundred folks (those with PBAs signed for vehicles with OC interiors).

That being said, there should have been a direct email to those with Signed PBAs with OC interiors explaining what that means - or guides should have reached out - but in no way should that have been covered in an email to 70,000 people when 69,500 don't have that concern.

So the blunder was not that they didn't include it in the original email, the blunder is not covering off w/ the affected folks.

What is "cash flow through the supply chain"?
Suppliers being paid by Rivian, who then pay further down the supply chain.

Most of the supply chain is functioning on a "just in time" delivery model where goods aren't invoiced until received - typically with Net 30 (day) payment terms.

I agree this you, but playing devil's advocate, what if they said "For those that have already been working with a guide and started the purchase process, you are not affected. Please contact your guide if you have any questions."

Of course, it doesn't seem like that's true. It appears that the guides got this information the same time as us, which is typical for Rivian as they don't want info to "leak" before formal announcement.

So it seems the problem is the light wood, not the light "leather". Wonder if there was any consideration to change the wood to a darker color? I for one would be happy if they used the forest edge wood in all three interior configurations.

From what I have put together with everything I’ve read(email and forum posts), those with BM and FE interiors who have signed a PBA won’t be directly affected by the OC debacle. Those who have signed a PBA with OC interiors, and had even been confirmed a delivery date within the next month or so, will be pushed back until Fall. Unfortunately, I think their misguided guides weren’t up to speed on the manufacturing process. Even the guides who claimed to have seen OC interior vehicles coming down the line. I don’t necessarily believe the guides intentionally lied to their customers just to pacify them because I have more faith in Rivian than that. I’m thinking the guides were victims of their own bad internal coms. They were probably just regurgitating what they have been told until the official word came down the hill.

Just my translation though so can’t say for sure.

I always thought the medium tone wood would be great with the Black Mountain interior. Our Q5 has open pore walnut, which is similar in color, combined with black IP and cinnamon seating surfaces. It's a stunning combination.
