My loan is approved through my credit union. They are waiting on the purchase agreement to update with their address in it. As soon as that is finished, they can issue the check.

I was planning on uploading the check picture tomorrow, then overnighting the check to Rivian, arriving by Friday as I have delivery scheduled on Saturday.

My guide emailed me tonight saying the only way it will work is wiring the money or ACH. Has anyone else ran into this?? Why the check picture and tracking if it doesn't matter?

ACH is not uncommon any more. However, needing a pic of the check while ACH'ing, that's rather odd as the system does check your Routing and Bank account for authentication.

The check is issued by the bank, so it will be made out directly to Rivian...

Even for Credit Unions (I'm a member of one too), they can ACH too (well, at least I know the one I attend to does).

Can you just hand the credit union check to the Rivian delivery person? I am assuming it is a cashier's check, so the funds are good.

from what I understand from my guide you just need the photo of the check and tracking uploaded. They don't need to have received the check prior to delivery. I could have misunderstood though. Guess I'll be double checking tomorrow.

Spoke with my guide this morning, apparently I am good to go with a picture of the check and the tracking number. Picking up the check today, overnighting it just to be safe.

As a PSA - I paid by ACH by connecting my bank account to Plaid during the 8 steps. The moment you connect your bank account Rivian processes the payment, without any further "confirmation."

I was going to wait until I actually had a delivery date to confirm the payment, and thought I was just setting up the ACH in advance. But no, the moment you connect your bank account in Step 7 the funds are gone without any further notice.

Did your step 8 open up before or after the payment was processed? I'm holding off on sending payment until I can pick a delivery date, but I have a nagging feeling that step 8 won't open until payment is processed, even though I'm told otherwise by my guide.

Technically Step 8 opened after they started processing the payment. I had intended to do what you are planning, waiting until I can pick a delivery date to send funds. There's been too many examples of people paying for the truck and then Rivian saying its not ready for delivery. However, I didn't realize that after I connect up my bank account, there was no "pay" button, they just start processing the payment.

However, I'm not sure you need to pay before the delivery windows open. My truck may have just been already at the service center. I drove by last Sunday and saw one sitting there that exactly matched my configuration, and I don't think Red Canyon is a common choice.

I mailed the check and after uploading the photo the delivery date immediately opened....but then they shipped my truck to the wrong place with no idea when it would be back so now they are trying to find a different one.

Delivery opened up for me as soon as the PDI was completed. I may have listed the bank, but that was it.

Fully paid here but step 8 not open. So, I think you must have been lucky that your truck had completed the final check at the service center. My guide told me my truck is here in MI but I’m assuming since step 8 is not open for me that they haven’t completed the QC.

I went online and noticed the 8 step process was open, so after completing the 1st two steps, I was waiting to see what they would give for a trade in. I got a call from my guide and he said I had the option of picking up at the factory, since I live an hour away. I said that would be great, so he scheduled it for me. I'll get to meet him while I'm there. Step 8 showed complete before I got to payment.

It seems like scheduling delivery in step 8 is dependent on the truck being ready for delivery, but you can't actually pick it up until all the other steps are complete.
