Haven't seen a specific thread on this, so here goes...how to spend my hour with the delivery guy?

1. Transport damage/defects: exterior...paint scratches/chips, dents, orange peel?

2. Fit, finish, and function of exterior panels, door handles, tires, doors, windows, gear tunnel, bed, tonneau cover, wheel well, tailgate, front trunk?

3. Interior defects? Seats front and rear, plastic panels, storage areas, window tint?

4. Underside for obvious missing screws/fasteners?

5. Anything missing? Spare tire, cross bars, tire tools, air hoses, portable charger, wall charger?

6. Quick test drive to check for driving noises, steering wheel alignment, obvious functional issues?

I know there is a very long list of other things to check that may not be delivery problems, but covered under warranty. Delivery person will want to go over the UI, (software version?), Rivian app, and there is paperwork to sign, but thinking anything that is objectionable at delivery will be important to document with photos and on paperwork...anything that needs to be "fixed" by Rivian, otherwise, it's post-delivery damage, and our $$$.

There are now plenty with Rivian delivery experience, so please chime in with anything else you may think important and help those of us with upcoming deliveries!

Not really a defect to be noted/cured, it just is what it is.
Yes, never even thought about it with other cars, but have seen it noted by others. Minor imperfections that are "fixed" by detailers prior to ceramic coating.

If I have been given a delivery timeline of 3pm to 7pm, can I expect them to show up at 3pm or do I need to try to clear my schedule for the entire 4 hours?

Is yours coming from ATL service center? Mine came from there, was postponed from May 12th to May 21st, but both times was given a one hour window, and my delivery came 5 minutes after start of the window.

I started a thread, but didn’t keep up with it. See below. I posted a model Y checklist as a starting point. I think it is important to do a thorough check so that you can get your truck/SUV scheduled for a service appointment, if necessary, as soon as possible.

Mine is coming directly from Normal all the way to Memphis. Maybe the 4 hour window I was given is in case of traffic?

#1 should be brush your teeth. You guys will be sitting close together in the vehicle for a while.

First thing I did was walk around the truck while on the flat bed as it was easier to look and see the missing wheel well fasteners. 3 of 4 wheel wells had missing fasteners, and this was the only thing we found in the entire inspection, and found this before even off the flatbed. The delivery technician just blew it off, but service is going to fix...along with the wind noise from the small driver side triangular window that is not sealed well, and wait to see if anything to do to fix the tonneau cover that doesn't always close completely...have used some dry graphite spray in the channels to see if that helps. Still waiting for an appointment for these items...

Paint imperfections that look like the texture of an orange peel. Apparently very common.
Just finished accepting delivery. Orange peel like crazy, charge door needs aligning, couple of panels/trim need aligning, hood may be a little off center, pulls a little to right. Overall very happy. 2 points for consideration: I asked he move the vehicle within distance of my L2 charger so I could verify it accepted charging from my HPWC... He had never been asked that before. To me it's a "does the ICE engine start and run" kinda thing... Number 2: powered up and Nav showed us 150mi west of house... Stayed that way for 3 hrs. Till I finally suggested a system reboot, thankfully it finally came to actual location: point being in an SOS situation Emergency Service would have gone to other side of state not to me in a crash. Weird.

Kind of feel like checking for orange peel is silly. At this point, we all know it’s going to be there and Rivian is not going to remove/correct it, right?
