I think I may have the shortest order-to-delivery time on record. I ordered on April 21st, 2022 and just got my 8-Step today and will soon schedule delivery for early next week.

It will be roughly 40 days from the day I put down my $1,000 deposit to the day the R1T is in my garage.

Full Timeline-

Order Date: April 21, 2022
Guide Contact: May 12, 2022
PBE Signed and Config Locked: May 13, 2022
VIN and 8-Step: May 25, 2022
Delivery: (Will update after I finish 8-Step)

My specific configuration is attached.

Rivian R1T R1S Shortest order-to-delivery time yet @ 40 days 55006DAE-5FAB-4664-8CFD-280BF43E545D

What's the last four of the VIN? Curious if this is an earlier build that a customer passed on or if it's newer.

I can tell you it’s definitely new because my Guide mentioned it finishing up at the factory. But here are the last 4: #6350

I hate to say it but it makes sense for Rivian to sprinkle some of these new orders in. They make more money on the post 3/1 orders. I can't blame them for allocating some trucks to that.
frustrating for people waiting since 2018 and 2019 when they are building <5 a day...

Double edged sword. They risk causing cancellations from long time reservation holders.

Oh I totally agree. It’s completely frustrating. It’s a terrible spot to be in for both parties. The answer is to build more faster!

I can blame them. It is financially stupid too because those orders pre March will still need to be filled but instead of at todays cost it will be next years cost which will cause a bigger financial hit.

Maybe? Tony has said they are working to bring up volumes to cut costs and build faster. Who knows, maybe costs will neutralize or go down if they can get to true scale. It may be wishful thinking though.

Next year’s cost could be lower based on today’s supply chain constraints. Lithium and nickel price have skyrocketed recently and Rivian is already considering cheaper LFP batteries for future builds. Secondly, a bump in stock price would help them hiring easier and possibly raise more money by selling stocks, offering bonds at lower rate etc.

Please tell me you are joking.

Rivian is sitting on something like 17 Billion in cash, I don't think screwing over long term reservation holders for a little extra profit short term is a good business decision. We are basically at the "what's the point of the reservation system" now.
