Removing Current Restraints gets it built

I get it when people are hard set on specific items or packages. But if you are just dying to get your R1T You may get a quick build by doing the following. Parts of this have been mentioned elsewhere. So I tried it and I got a prepare to build confirmation 3 days later.

add 21” wheels
Remove spare
Add black interior
Add adventure package

my reservation date is sept 2021 so not super early but not real recent either.

I would do it all, but I can't add the black interior. I like the looks of OC too much. I hope they iron out the OC wood wrinkles soon!

Have you confirmed with a guide that doing these changes didn't just push you up to an "orphaned" production unit? And I guess I'll ask the obvious, does that matter?

I’m surprised the spare is such an issue. Is no one worried about driving without one? I’ve literally never used one… but I like having it for that one super important time I need it maybe!

I guess every 4 spares means one less vehicle on the line.... so maybe?

I had a spare on my original config and when I confirmed it, it was removed without me realizing it. My guide added it back before delivery and it's set to arrive here in a few weeks.

The R1 Shop consistently has vehicles with spares available... So I don't think the presence or absence of a spare on your config has much, if any, influence.

The all terrain tires seem to be a part of the constraint.

It's great when you are flexible, but some of us don't like/want dark interiors and some combinations of the only other interior (FE) option just don't work.
I can't imaging a FE interior with Forrest Green exterior where an OC interior/Forrest Green will look stunning.

I can wait, and I'm not complaining... it will be worth the wait.

Keep in mind that supply constraints are dynamic. Configs being produced today may not be as readily available in a few weeks (eg, we've already seen a shift from delivering mostly 20s to mostly 21s). I suspect a lot of Rivian's batching is less about simplifying their manufacturing process and more about aligning manufacturing to supply chain (ie, building what they can with the parts that they are able to get).

Never used a spare either. So, I see more storage space, not getting one

Without a spare I would recently have had to have my vehicle towed and then sit parked for 10 days waiting for a replacement tire which was on backorder for my size. At least with the spare donut I was able to get home, grocery shop, etc until a new tire arrived. Unfortunately the old tire took a very large screw in the shoulder meaning it was not repairable and had to be replaced. Here in the DFW area, I can't imagine life without a spare - it's come in handy far too many times.
