I've taken delivery of multiple special order vehicles from dealerships over the last few years, so I speak from experience about them fixing stuff prior to delivery as opposed to afterward most of the time.

I haven't taken delivery of a Rivian... All I had to do was read these forums to see people reporting that Rivian forced them to accept delivery with damage or wait for another truck to come along eventually.
The answer to my question was "No and Yes". Thanks for playing.

Also, you should grab a dictionary and look out the definition of the word "forced' because

Which part of my post is inaccurate?

A) The part where I said customers have to get financing and make down payments before test driving or fully inspecting their trucks?

Or...

B) The part where I said that if you find paint defects upon delivery Rivian will not let you hold off on accepting the truck, have it fixed, and then reschedule delivery similar to the way other brands handle this sort of problem.

Facts are facts whether I've taken delivery of a Rivian or not.

Facts are still facts even if you choose not to believe them. Facts don't care what you believe.

Just curious why the word forced is being used here. Essentially are they only being asked to make a choice of the only two options? Take the truck now or wait for repairs or replacement. Maybe I am being too simple minded here but is there a third option I am not seeing?

My issue with the word force is it implies intimidation or coercion but in reality people have to make decisions everyday in their lives where all of the options may not be the desirable outcome. This seems to just be one of those decisions.

Right... It's a choice. Buyers are forced to choose option 1 or option 2. It's a take it or leave it scenario... And my point is that it is not normal in the auto industry to handle deliveries this way.

Option 3, which is not offered by Rivian, is to have the truck fixed then reschedule delivery.

It should be an option, if not the norm for Rivian... Which is my point.

The OP wouldn't be in this predicament had it been fixed prior to accepting delivery. Unfortunately had the OP noticed the damage at delivery, having it fixed prior to finalizing the deal still wouldn't have been an option because Rivian doesn't allow the buyer this opportunity.

The reason I used the word "force" is because Rivian buyers are not permitted to get repairs made before completing the deal. They are "forced" by Rivian to take the truck despite the damage, or give up the truck all together because Rivian won't allow it to be handled any other way.

I'm flexible with wording. It's fine if the word "forced" isn't the best word... But that's semantics at this point. The point is that buyers either have to get back in line or take delivery of a damaged vehicle... and those are 2 crappy options to choose from, are they not?

I appreciate the feedback yall. I guess I’m lucky that I’m actually in houston anyways which seems to be where their quality/go-to paint repair shop is located so that is a bit of a relief.

Still salty that I have to pay for PPF and ceramic a second time around for something I didn’t do wrong. Probably gunna let out my inner “Karen” and try to get them to cover that cost. Probably won’t happen but worth a shot. Still feels like they are rushing so much to get trucks out that simple QC things are being missed. The amount of pint defects that are blatently noticeable and the alignment issues on nearly every truck owner I’ve spoken to would be easy to catch prior to delivering a truck to the end user.

Hopefully the repair turns out great and I can look back in a year and just call this the thousand mile speed bump.

I have a crease in my driver side door that I see every morning when I walk up to it. It bothers me a little bit but I think the consequences of letting a local body shot paint this may end up being worse.

On my old vehicle on the back quarter panel there was a bunch of wavyness going on, almost looked like it was in a collision and tried to be repaired. Chevrolet denied fixing it and saying it was within acceptable tolerances.
