I connected via Wi-fi even though I have all bars on LTE and still no dice. What am I doing wrong?

It’d be sweet if Alexa command could open a garage door. Anyone pulled this off?

I've found that it often takes 15-30 seconds for Alexa to connect when I first jump in and go. Just give her a second, and she should be ready to go.

I connected my garage door with Alexa, largely because I couldn't get my garage door to connect with the truck software directly (I haven't spent a ton of time on it, admittedly).

My garage door brand has connection with Alexa natively (you have to add the "skill" in the Alexa app), so once that was set up and my truck was connected to my Alexa account, there really wasn't much else to do. It's the same command you would use with your Alexa inside your house.

Mine does require me to use a pin code to open, but closes on command without the pin. It's all pretty slick, and I'm actually happy with how it is working even without the garage door connected directly with the software.

It's a bug IMO with the latest update.
Sign in to Alexa. She works. Car goes to sleep, Alexa can't connect to the Internet.
Sign out. Sign back in. Alexa works again. Car goes to sleep.
Alexa can't connect to the Internet.
Rinse repeat.

Car goes to sleep = parked for long enough for sleep mode - think that is between 10 to 30 minutes

Quite a few of us have.....there is a thread somewhere.....complex set-up, but works perfect now without any PIN #'s or oddities. Alexa, "Open R1T Garage". Alexa, "Close R1T Garage" (not real keyword)

In my experience. The switch between WiFi and LTE is not fast or smooth…. And Rivian chose to disconnect WiFi as soon as you go into Drive. So now I have to make sure to set music and nav destination before I start rolling out of my garage, otherwise I can’t do either for several blocks.

That's odd. I find that the switch is near instant. In fact, I have started Alexa commands while in park in the garage (and, therefore, on Wi-Fi), shifted to reverse mid request (theoretically shifting to LTE, though there is no in-truck method to verify), and then finished the request. Went through without a hitch.

I was experiencing this, but did an infotainment reset the other day and it's been working ever since (so far).

My experience with the Rivian LTE is just plain bad. It will often show full bars and simply not work. Something is screwed in their network stack.

Interestingly enough, I had a catastrophic failure this morning when I tried to leave for work. Got in touch with Rivian support in 30 seconds or less - did a infotainment reset and then a hard reset - Alexa worked this morning after both.

Also, all the catastrophic drive errors went away too (minus from ongoing hood latch error) . Hope that Alexa works after work today - maybe the trick is to sign in and then infotainment reset to fix the no internet Alexa woes.

There are definitely some inconsistencies. I have read many of your posts indicating you have issues with Alexa and LTE, and think to myself "huh, mine doesn't do that..." This is another instance. I have Verizon service and continually see terrible speeds (sub 1 Mbps) with 4 bars of 4G on my Note10+. I routinely have to connect to my truck hotspot (often with only 1 or 2 bars from AT&T) and still see a significant (10-50x) increase in throughput.?‍♂

Agreed, congruent with my own observations
