Confirm Config and Several Other Questions...

Hello All. First Time, Long Time.

I have probably read every thread in this joint for the past year and had nothing productive to add until I at least knew my truck was coming. ;oP

So I have a few questions since I received my "Confirm Configuration" email today. Great appreciation for any answers! (Not much of a prize I know).

1) I might want to change my color choices for exterior and interior (Currently have Limestone/Forest Edge...thinking of changing to Red Canyon/Black Mountain). Will I encounter delays if I change just those two items?

2) Approximately how long from confirming your order to delivery? Weeks? Months? (Don't say s00n).

3) Will I get access to the R1T Shop at some point? CS Keeps telling me it's only for reservation holders from the earliest of days.

So excited to finally get somewhere with this wait!

Mid October 2021. Don't remember the exact date.

1 - It will probably cause a delay, I don't know for sure but it seems like you get the confirm your config email when you either get matched to an existing truck with that config or there's an open slot in the production schedule for that config. How much of a delay is hard to say.
2 - Also tough to say, sometimes your truck is already built and it's only a week or two, some people have been waiting months.
3 - The earliest order date I've seen that got access to the shop was Feb 2021 but most are 2019 or 2020 orders. So if you end up having to wait a while you might but I wouldn't expect it.

Edit to add: Your guide might be able to give you more insight about delays and timelines. If you got the confirm your config email, you should see your guide under the help section on your account page. Maybe send them an email and see what they say. It'll probably be vague but worth a shot.

I confirmed the config anyway. I have a guide appointment for Monday so I will tax her with questions then. I don't want to lose the truck over a color change.

Is the "confirm configuration" email something different from locking with a guide on the phone? I never got that email but I did lock with my guide on the phone and it is now listed as soft locked.

Hey Rob thanks for the advice! I emailed and texted my guide this morning. I also scheduled a meeting on Monday. She has not responded yet so I have heard that is par for the course.

Exciting news — we're ready to build your vehicle. We ask that you review your configuration before confirming. You can call your Rivian Guide to make changes, which can delay your delivery.

My experience was that the confirm config lined up with "my" config being scheduled for production. Changing it would definitely introduce a delay.

From the time I got the confirm your config to delivery was about 4 weeks.

If you hurry up and your guide lets you, you might get your RC/BM built with mine that's currently in the queue. You might even get it slightly quicker as it's been a few weeks in the queue so mine is probably coming up in the build order soon. I would check with your guide though. Also when I first confirmed my guide told me that I was down to 8 weeks as that's their cycle and I'm in that 8 week cycle now. I would assume it's the same for you.

Wow that definitely differs from Rob's timeframe. I will ask her as soon as I can. I am wondering if there is a config of this truck ready and available as I follow the R1 Shop thread and they post what's out there and this truck spec I currently have seems to be readily available.

im in a similar boat. i received the confirm config email this week. i did not confirm it though. Guide says if i do that then my config will be "locked" and if i make a change my delivery will most likely be delayed. also, if i want to make changes i will need to go through the Guide to do so (though even though i haven't confirmed at this point i cant make any changes anyhow since im stuck on the "confirm config" in my account)

anyway, i asked for R1 Shop access. Guide says its 24-48 hours to process but actually getting in will probably take longer. im guessing its a queue and only certain amount of people can have access at one time.

once i get access to the Shop i will likely change my config, knowing it could delay delivery while at the same time checking the Shop to see if a similar config comes up that i can snap up.

So just to update... I have a VIN already and I am doing the 8 step process. I did not receive shop access. Does this mean the truck is built and ready or are they slotting it for production? I'm confused and have to sell my truck in a hurry if the Rivian is ready for purchase. I mean they want me to add insurance so it has to be built and ready, right?
