I’ve noticed oil canning on the doors of every R1 I’ve seen and this light tunnel clip proves I’m not imagining it. Something fucky in their stampings

Can you point out where you see it? I'm seeing what I think are normal contour changes, but maybe I am missing it?

Middle of the front door, it is apparent if scrubbing through the video. Compared to the trailing & bottom edges of the door the middle is pulled in, like a big oblong dent.

That was my assessment as well; the only thing striking to me was the amount of new tooling being delivered (I presume in lieu of a production rate increase).

No idea; that said: Facebook users are trying to spin the Stellantis/Amazon contract today and saying that Amazon is pulling out of Rivian/hasn’t paid for a single edv.

Supposedly he’s an employee, or may be a disaffected former employee. No idea.

I find it difficult Rivian would be taking delivery on a significant number of tooling to expand production if that’s the case.

Yeah, a couple parts of that don’t make sense to me. Amazon wouldn’t purchase all of their vans from just one company anyway, so them purchasing Stellantis BEV vans is not that surprising to me. Also, if Amazon is trying to go electric in other parts of the world, they would seek out a global automaker like Stellantis.

That kind of tooling is quite expensive and there are a bunch of them. Like you said I doubt Rivian would have made that kind of investment if there were doubts about their arrangement with Amazon.
