March 2021 Preorder, but I live in New Mexico. They say they'll have more info in January, but I am worried that deliveries in NM will be indefinitely delayed. We're surrounded: Denver, Dallas, Phoenix, Salt Lake all have Service Centers, but none in NM and none coming soon. Pretty bummed. Should I change my delivery address to Denver?

They said you would see this if you changed your configuration at all after October 16th. Won't get an update for three months.

I'm not sure what Rivian will decide about certain states that can't have service centers. I do know that New Mexico is covered by Mobile service. I do know that there are dozens of R1Ts in New Mexico. I've driven one :) And his powered tonneau works great.

I also know that Tesla got around local dealership laws by putting sales and service on Pueblo land. I am hope Rivian does the same.

Rivian has addresses for me in both Colorado and New Mexico. I have been honest with CS when I talked to them that I will be using my R1T mostly in NM. We will see what happens when I get a Guide and mention that I would like to register my R1T in NM and not Colorado. It might push me back.

I had this and never once changed my configuration apart from adding things like cargo crossbars.

it’s because Rivian has no plans for a service centre here.

Well that's not entirely accurate, my guide locked in my configuration at the beginning of the month and I have the message.

I got the message, ordered in 2019, haven't changed my configuration, didn't cancel and reinstate my order.

Oh, and I live less than five miles from a service center.

Joe,
I see you repeatedly stating this in other threads too. Can you please update your signature with your EXACT configuration? Include trim (Launch Edition, Adventure, Explore) and battery size (medium, large, max)

Yep, I’m pretty wound up about this.

have updated the signature, but I don’t have anything exotic. LA Silver/Black mountain Adventure trim with large pack and 20 AT wheels. Last time I changed my configuration was the beginning of this year, just the wheels to 20 ATs.

There was someone on another thread who says He already has an R1T (ordered in 2019) and is waiting on an R1S ordered in 2021. He got an early 2023 window for his second Rivian. And he’s local to me. He thinks it’s because of his proximity to a service center.

I can confirm. After I got my new delivery estimate yesterday (Oct-Dec 2023) I removed the donut spare tire and the Rivian wall charger from my configuration and it instantly changed to “Processing Estimate.”

Thanks for this reply. I haven't changed anything in awhile other than going from powered tonneau to manual when prompted just before the 16th. I think my order is pretty standard: Adventure, Forest Green, Large Pack, 21" wheels, Black Mountain , with full spare and manual tonneau. I got to do a demo drive in Denver last month and they suggested I might want to put a CO address to speed things up, but suggested I wait for the email to see what would happen. I didn't really expect a non-answer. I do get it, that they would want to have most of their owners near a service center, but it's been a long wait in a transition vehicle I don't like, and now it is tough to plan. Whether to get another interim vehicle or just keep waiting this out. I like though that you've put in two addresses and been up front about your needs. Did you get a delivery date? Definitely hoping they come to some arrangement with one of the Pueblos soon. I think that would be great for all involved, but no sign of that yet. They are not advertising for any positions in NM right now.

This is getting weird. In early September they said "big announcement at the end of September", At the end of September they said "Delivery estimates at the end of October". At the end of October they said "Processing estimate" without telling anyone what that meant. Now folks are checking in to say that it means "we will give you and estimate in 3 or 4 months". I now know far less about if and when the R1S is going to be delivered than I did in early September (when I was told Q4 or 2022). I think their media people need to go take some classes in clear communication.

North Carolina is one of the dreaded “no service centers allowed” states.

All non already delivered Rivians* are put on hold in these 8 states. I think Rivian is looking into work around a but hasn’t found a solution yet.

*Rivian delivered early deposit orders to people even in these states without service. But over time they must of found this was not fiscally sound. So now newer orders in these states are on hold. I do wish Rivian would come out and talk about this. They have hinted about it, but a more open and direct approach would be best.

Tony C. Stated in an interview with Rivian Stories that about 5% of reservation pre-orders are still being processed. According to tony on the interview that for those customers they should get an update within few weeks and they are working on it.
hope this helps. Hang In there.

Oh but they DID say what processing estimate meant… in an interview with “Rivian stories”. But they didn’t bother to tell customers directly. I found that out on Saturday, after I cancelled my preorder. ?
