It definitely has to do with the distance to a service center, as I have two R1Ts on order and the first one I had my western Washington address listed (about 50 miles from the SC)as the delivery address and I received the confirm configuration email in mid September. Unfortunately, I am currently stationed overseas and won’t be back to my western Washington home for about 7 more months, so I asked them to deliver my R1T to Spokane to pick up..then I would drive it to Montana and store it for the 7 months. My guide spoke with his supervisors and they decided that they would put my status into “not ready for delivery “. But I would not lose my place in line.

The second R1T has my Montana address listed as delivery and I did not get a delivery estimate for this truck…..same as other folks..says pending…due to lack of a service center in the area.

As much as I feel the pain for everyone that has an early preorder date and delivery dates that are far out……it makes good business sense for Rivian to delay those, as the cost to pick up those vehicles and bring them to a SC that is hundreds of miles away is a nightmare and very expensive……but….I don’t understand why some people that are close to the SC are not getting dates…that makes no sense…but the others do. So far Rivian has been very understanding of my situation and they don’t want me to get a new truck and store it for 7 months…so they will just let me stay in my spot until I am getting close to returning…and can deliver to my western Washington address.

Or maybe there are a lot more R1S orders than R1Ts. Lots of people seem in love with the idea of a 7 person SUV because they cart kids around all the time.

Not sure if that should really matter, if you have noticed @COdogman made R1T order in Dec'21 with delivery estimate of Q2'23.

If we try to parse what we're seeing...
- R1T orders (large battery) have gotten decent windows, some moved up earlier than expected
- Max pack delayed to 2024
- Many but not all R1S delayed to 2024
- Some orders are pending Service Center or "full service" capability in the area

It seems to me that many of the orders are waiting for the Georgia plant to be operational - which Rivian has already said it planned to start production there in 2024.

There is no way Rivian will be mass producing vehicles in Georgia in 2024.

February-March 23 estimate for our R1S. Forest green with green interior. Ordered May 2021. Firmly believe the fact that we have an open service center in town is a big reason for our relatively early window.

After reading through this thread, it seems that R1S interior Ocean Coast got pushed out much further into middle of ‘23 and R1S interior Forest Edge is much earlier in ‘23, at least for long-time reservation holders-‘18-‘20. (BM still earlier as well) Anyone see this differently?

Delivery pushed out further again (third time). Not sure my current vehicle will hold out until then. It bothers me that I was forced to change my configuration in September (with a $5k price increase) so Rivian could streamline manufacturing to deliver the highest volume of pre-orders. Quarterly earnings calls indicate that Rivian is meeting and continues to be confident in its delivery targets. So why is the delivery shifting again?

The longer the delivery timeframe, the more concerned that I become that Rivian will force me to reconfigure (yet again) and add even more cost to my final price. I've been a huge fan of Rivian and remain a shareholder, but my faith is waning. The forced reconfigs with hefty price increases really was unsettling. I'm also perturbed by some pre-orders being fulfilled within 1-2 months while many others have been waiting years.

I put in a pre-order deposit for a Cadillac Lyriq today as an insurance policy. It's projected to be available 3-6 months before my R1S that has been on order for well over a year.

I have been oh so curious about a service center in either Nashville OR Birmingham. Since I’m stuck in the middle.

I know it’s all about location more than when you ordered any more but come on Huntsville rocket city. It’s not in the absolute middle of nowhere. It’s close but not quite?.

Being a very early Rivian adopter (order on November 28, 2018), we are disappointed by our new R1T delivery window of Jan-Dec, 2024. The email letter that we received tells us that our order will not be filled until there is a Rivian Service Center in our area. When that will occur, who knows. We live in a very unpopulated area of the western Florida Panhandle. We are far enough out in the Panhandle that we are in the Central Time Zone.

What is Rivian's definition of "in our area"? As we do not live within 100 miles of any city that is over 100,000 population, this may not happen for a very long time.

We have the same order date. I changed my R1S to OC. I live in IL. Maybe black int helped you here for sooner delivery.

Good luck with that. I have a Lyriq Debut Edition reserved…the one they said they would start delivering in Spring 2022. The only update I received from GM was a few months ago where they said they expected to have all the Debut Editions built by the end of this year (no mention of delivery). And now online rumors now suggest Q1 2023. GM has had far less communication than Rivian for me, and I reserved both within weeks of each other.

That being said, a smart strategy would be to have several reservations/preorders to give oneself options.

Fellow panhandle resident. Also have a 2024 delivery estimate. Disappointing. I was not an early adopter like you.

Dec2021 pre-order for R1S Adventure El Cap/BM/21s. Original estimate was 1st half 2023. This is significantly later.

It looks like (roughly) sept '21 pre-orders are now in the 3Q23 bucket, Oct/Nov '21 pre-orders are in the 4Q23 bucket, and Dec '21 are in the 2024 bucket. I would expect yours to be in 1Q24. They will start narrowing it down as the date approaches.

On the topic of buying property near a service center...many years back, I came across a service that made people Scottish lords. Apparently in order to be a Scottish lord you only have to own property in Scotland. So this company bought property in Scotland and sold square foot pieces with a document declaring the owners Scottish lords.

So some enterprising individual could feasibly buy any old junk property near a service center and sell or lease square foot parcels to Rivian lords to use as an address to bump up delivery...

YUP same 2024 delivery date no month given..... ordered 2018 ...... 6 years and counting

Preordered the Silverado RST EV, Blazer SS EV and looking at the Lotus Eleltre as well. Just in case I get pushed back again to 2025.
