SNOW MODE & other nice upgrades coming in Rivian Software Update 2022.47 ❄️

I'm getting a little tired of waiting for a flood mode. Not all of us live in a desert with lots of sand or in the arctic with a lot of snow. When can I get a flood mode?

I don't think there is a single item in this OTA that I wanted. Dashcam, location auto mirror fold, location garage door control, accent light control, fly outs on center display moved to the left. Scheduled precondition and cabin warm up, Audible, Netflix.....

I do wish unskilled drivers would stay off the streets in snow like I do. But it's hard to develop skills when you have very few opportunities each year and the streets are packed with other bad drivers with expensive vehicles. So I am thankful for Rivian adding snow mode for fools like me in the event I have to leave in an emergency (usually a dog is to blame). And at least I am already very comfortable with one pedal driving. Imagine a first time EV driver in a Rivian in icy downtown Seattle hills.

I live in the snow and I drive in the snow everyday.... that being said I wouldn't go within 50 miles of Seattle when it gets snow. Bad drivers and all those hills F that

I guarantee that Apple has extremely tight control on how other developers integrate their Music App. Apple would definitely need to be involved in integrating their Music app for Rivian’s vehicles. Without Apple’s support, it’s not happening, and Apple may not have resources available to support Rivian. It’s very possible integrating the Tidal app was much easier. Just because Tidal was added first, doesn’t necessarily mean that it was higher on priority list. I’m sure Rivian is working on adding multiple new audio sources in parallel and releasing them in updates when they are ready.

I want Apple Music added as bad as anyone but very few auto manufacturers have actually integrated Apple Music natively. If I recall correctly, only Audi (maybe Mercedes too) have a native Apple Music app.

Which is why they should just add CarPlay and be done with it.

"Relaxed pedal response and reduced regen braking..." woo-hoo! I best this mode is easier to feather between acceleration and regen (coast). If I ever get my R1S, I will probably always drive in snow mode–and I live in Phoenix! LOL

I’m also hopeful. One pedal driving is not my favorite. Sciatica is back. Can’t wait to try it out!

There has been an acknowledgement that they are working on the dash cam and it was supposed to be ready this fall. Since it hasn't been released yet, that likely means they are still working out issues, not that it has fallen on deaf ears.

Imagine a first time EV driver in a Rivian in icy downtown Seattle hills.

Icy Seattle hills are best experienced only on skis or snowshoes. There is no wheeled vehicle that can safely navigate that mess without aggressive chains.

OTA updates on suspension and acceleration is what differentiates Tesla and Rivian from BMW/Mercedes. The car and driver post about how much better BMW IX is but it can't do this.

Note BMW does do OTA but small stuff like Front collision distance or audio option.
