So apparently this is true and on top of that she used the wording "canceled orders" so these are apparently refused deliveries inclusive. I guess they are getting desperate to get numbers up end of year.. Definitely not taking a chance, plus she only had Forest Green interiors.
We got matched to a truck that matched our configuration, minus the spare, that’s at the factory in Normal. We told our guide we’ll take it. Expecting 8-Steps tomorrow and pick up next week. ?

Our guide also gave us some interesting insight, 9 out of 10 trucks he sees don’t have the underbody. It’s not that popular of an add on. Spare tires are delayed due to supply of the jacks and accessories, not the tires and wheels. Guides also had access to more than 100 R1S this morning and the factory has been almost all R1S this month.

Been lurking here for a few weeks and am finally chiming in with another data point.

Preordered in Jan 2022. R1T, adventure package, large pack, limestone, 20" AT wheels.
Never did see a delivery estimate after they were supposedly posted in Oct. Changed config for manual tonneau on 10/28. Got the email to confirm configuration on 11/11. Worked with my guide to drop the underbody shield and add full size spare. No status updates since then.

Certainly seems like Rivian is trying to push a whole bunch of us through the production and delivery process right now. I was able to maintain a level of detached interest for most of this year. But now it is starting to feel real and I am eagerly checking for status updates and devouring news from everyone who already has their new truck.

Ya that’s how I got my truck— my guide looked at his “list” based on my criteria. I was hesitating on confirming the configuration and my graphql changed to “customer not ready”

also funny, my truck has 21’s with a spare and underbody. I almost feel someone meant to get 20’s and was like nevermind… because it’s an odd config.

Got my 8-step email this morning. Completed the first 6 steps, waiting to pay and for the scheduled delivery date.
Do you have a VIN?

Someone please confirm, I don't need to complete payment in order to get scheduled for the delivery date?
Correct. You need to have payment ready the day before delivery. In CA you can bring a cashier's check to the pickup location- YMMV

Yeah, my guide also said text was the best way to communicate. So far he has replied every time I’ve texted, but I’m also not asking that many questions yet. My order is in the ”configuration confirmed” but “processing estimate” stage.

I would really hate to be in their position right now. Doesn’t seem like they have answers to any of the questions their customers want answered. Still, they should at least acknowledge they received your texts even if they can’t do anything more than that right now….
Are you still waiting on the factory XPEL?

I confirmed my order with that and the manual tonneau on there and my guide didn't raise any red flags about either when we spoke at the time. There have been at least a couple factory Xpel trucks shared here since then, so I'm confident they are doing it, although I don't have any official confirmation of that. I'm also not in a rush - my window was Apr-Jun 23 and they confirmed my order in November so I wasn't expecting anything this soon anyway.

i think a healthier attitude would be to try to maintain that level of "detached interest" and not allow oneself to spend too much time reading these forums and studying what others are experiencing. afterall it is just another tin-can that will loose its appeal in a month after you have it.

Did your guide tell you the truck would ship from Normal to the Virginia SC + pass QC in a week? That’s crazy quick!

No. We are doing factory delivery. If you accept a vehicle that’s in Normal or at another service center you have to pick it up. But we were told the truck is in QC and will be ready soon.

How long did that take? I just selected a truck from the shop that’s in Normal & should get on a truck this week, coming to NorCal. I’m very curious how long it’s taken others to get trucked from Normal to Calif, and then inspected & delivered.

I’ll let you know! My guide told me it was “in transit” on Monday— he’s an incredible guide and proactive with communication so I won’t bug him until Thursday.
