What's the California cashiers check protocol?

My guide said that since I'm in California I can bring a cashier's check to buy the car at the service center. YMMV in other states but I asked him if I could just bring a cashier's check to the service center.

I can’t speak for California specifically, but I’ve been told no money exchanges hands in person. If you pay via cashiers check, I’d assume you have to mail it Rivian prior to delivery.

ACH is a fairly seamless process. Wires are a funds sent and they’re gone. If you mess up something the money can be gone. Our guide has told us Rivian has an easy ACH process setup, so that is the preferred payment method.

I'm paying mostly cash and financing 20k. My bank warned me not to pay in advance of the vehicle. If I was in the same position but it was last month, I would just wait until the vehicle is ready and then have the bank overnight a check (their only option is checks). But because we're in crunch time, I want to be ready for delivery any day.
Spent 5 hours reorganizing my garage yesterday to get the Rivian to fit. Charger is also installed

Jan 2022 rez here with order confirmation since 11/11 asked guide Angelique about getting shop access. She emailed me back and called back later that day (missed the call) and left a message about discussing options for taking delivery sooner.. having a call at 3pm today. Not sure what that means but not getting my hopes up!

Our guide has been sending us available vehicles at various service centers and at the factory. That could be what she's referring to. Guides have more control over that vs the Shop.

Great to hear that. My guide tells me that my vehicle is still in transit from IL to Dallas. May be it is already here and I will get some good news soon.

My truck's leaving Normal this week. Should reach the Bellevue SC on the last week of December, so it's going to be REALLY close (I have 7500 reasons to consider bribing the fine folks over there).

Financing went pretty smoothly, but I'm only doing a small amount. Local credit union gave $30k @ 4.99% (thanks, inflation), which they overnighted to Rivian.

I confirmed and guide assigned 11/11 and still nothing for me. My guide is very responsive and even added the manual tonneau back on for me today (she said it wouldn’t change my date). I asked about the r1 shop and she said 2022 preorder dates aren’t being offered this…I’ve heard different but oh well. Hopefully soon.

I installed my charger like 3 months ago. Long story short my house was built in 1950 so I needed to double my main panel to do this so it was a good amount of planning.

I have 21" center caps and a massive human teeth decal- I'm good to go!
