Large item moving

Hey folks, I'm going to be moving a few things that are too big to just fit right into the bed. Was wondering what configurations people had had success with in the past - one rack on the back of the roof (brace the top of large item) and one in the back of the bed? Roof on top + tiedown in back? It's just some bulky couches and other furniture, but I'm hoping to minimize scratching and such.

This. Most Home Depots now have Fetch Truck Rental services. All digital - sign up, get verified and rent. Super easy. I've used Fetch trucks to move heavy gym equipment, large TVs and other oversized furniture.

Also wanted to say I moved an 86" LG TV in the R1T bed. It laid down flat, perfectly.

Have to agree here, one day rental for a 6x12 trailer is $30, way cheaper than the potential damage to truck or merchandise.

update: yall are a bunch of pussies, I just put a blanket down and loaded stuff into the bed. a few items (couch esp) hung over the back of the tailgate but bungee cords and a nylon strap did just a-ok there. It was fine. I got more scratches scraping ice off my tonneau so it'd actually open than during the whole moving-stuff affair.

Truer words were never spoken. I bought a homemade car trailer, with brackets for sides. Thing was build by a welder who used I-beams and fully boxed steel crossmembers giant leaf springs (idk the size) and tandem axle. The trailers weighs 3,000 lbs. I haul whatever I want whereever I want. Not having to cut trees up is a bonus.

Just chuck it in and strap it down. Take two trips, don’t throw it on the roof.

If it’s too wide, use the crossbars.
