So if we are happy with our current config, no action required correct?
Those that confirmed their configurations already got this:

If you are in the 8 steps you should have a VIN already. I had a VIN a couple of weeks ago then got a message the vehicle was undeliverable and the 8 step process was pulled after completing most of the steps.
That is correct, I do have a VIN, paid my deposit and have insurance.

Sorry to hear you had your VIN pulled. That must have sucked.

I didn't get that email. That must be folks that are in the 8step process.

At least for R1S I don’t think they can give conservative windows only 4-6 months out. Even by April they are going to need more than another 6 months to deliver all those remaining R1S preorders.
That's a good point. I don't feel like there have been enough S delivered yet to fit that same pattern. So they will probably push those windows out a little farther. Hopefully soon they will be the same!

I'm not in the 8-step process and got the email. I've only confirmed my configuration on the 11/11 batch. My window was Dec/Jan so I HOPE my window is irrelevant once it's updated and I have a truck in my hands!

Where do you go to confirm the config? I don't get that option. What does the "confirmed" page look like on your login?

so i opened one of the links in the email and it seems they updated the page, or it happened before and i didnt notice. all the factors are things i remember hearing from Rivian before except "shifts in customer preference". that seems like a new one. so others changing their configs could move you up or back.

What factors impact my delivery window estimate?
Your specific delivery window estimate is based on your delivery location, configuration and original preorder or reservation date. It’s also influenced by how we batch production of vehicles at our plant, supply availability and shifts in customer preference.

Delivery Location
This is the address you intend to take delivery of your Rivian. A major factor in being able to deliver your vehicle is being near a Service Center. We’re continually rolling out new locations, and access to our network of Service Centers is essential to deliver and provide ongoing service support for your vehicle.

Configuration
This is the model, colors and options you’ve saved in your Account Page. If you’ve selected options we’re not yet producing like Dual-Motor or Standard pack, your delivery timing will correspond with when those options start delivering. Our Customer Engagement Center is available to discuss what configurations are currently being built, and how you may improve your delivery timing.

Preorder or reservation date
This is the date that you placed your deposit and ordered a Rivian vehicle. While it’s sometimes thought of as a “place in line”, your preorder or reservation date is one of many variables that’s used to generate your delivery window estimate. As much as possible, we prioritize our earliest customers.

Batching production
We batch produce vehicles based on similar configurations. Building large groups of similarly configured vehicles helps us manage supply chain constraints, as well as produce more efficiently so that we can build and deliver vehicles as quickly as possible.

Supply availability
We produce many vehicle components ourselves and work with hundreds of suppliers to get the parts needed to build your Rivian. Depending on available supply, we shift our build plan as needed to keep producing vehicles at a steady capacity, and adjust delivery estimates based on our understanding of our supply chain.

Shifts in customer preference
While reconfiguring your own order may change your window, shifts in the configurations of other customers can impact your delivery timing as well. When customers frequently reconfigure, we adjust our build plan in response. It’s important to remember that even if you change nothing in your own Account Page, your estimate may still change in response to updates to other customer orders.

What does it mean if I got the email but already took delivery months ago?
They're going to update the window of when you expected delivery. Should be pretty accurate I'd think.

Anyone have any real insight as to which configurations are more likely to get early batches? For example, are certain wheels or colors more common/accessible? Or, would factory PPF put you at the back of the line, etc? Before I confirm, I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by picking some less popular, or harder to source option, which may further delay delivery.

No one can answer that. We know they are batching runs but what order or what size the batches are who knows. Probably has a lot to do with what they currently have on the shelves.
