I hope the fix for Rivian automated cover comes soon… if these guys can do it I am sure Rivian can too. Waiting for the solution. So I can take delivery this year hopefully!

I'll reserve my judgement once I hear of people using it after getting the thing dirty or snow covered, etc.

With the bed being a wedge, I foresee lots of people packing gear in that can't physically fit through the opening if the cover is frozen in place.

I definitely would dislike having to try to mentally calculate the order of heights of things to fit under a tonneau that is angled while still loading them securely. It might have less space, but I'll take a flat horizontal tonneau that gives my brain an easier time determining how to properly load it.

One of a dozen hand-built prototypes that are babied and overseen by Tesla personnel at all time are easy to make "reliable enough that nobody really knows if it's reliable or not."

For all we know, this will be just as unreliable as Rivian's.

Cybertruck doesn’t have a gear tunnel, which allows them to use a traditional roll up tonneau cover.

The R1T, because the gear tunnel uses up space that normally would house a traditional roll up cover, uses a (obviously finicky) different mechanism. But yes, hope they come up with a better solution, eg using two synced motors or placing the single motor in the center of the bed (not to the left side now)

This is the same style cover as the roll-n-lock, which has a very low failure rate. Roll-n-lock started by making hurricane shutters and roll up doors and then pivoted to tonneau covers, so they're pretty indestructible. Maybe one day we'll actually see a cyber truck so we can get a teardown of it.

The wedge shaped bed must be a nightmare to pack. Imagine your larger items up front shifting towards the back and then getting caught on the cover.

So no view out the rear window with the tonneau cover closed?

Those bed sails must create some crazy blind spots as well.

Yeah I'm sure they have a camera. Still not ideal.
If implemented correctly, camera can be superior in some ways. No head rests in the way. Better field of view. Just needs to be out of the wind trail. The Rivian rear camera gets dirty quick.

I have a camera rearview now and it’s incredible. That’s one thing i wish the R1S/T had.

I have a hard time with them because looking at the display requires changing the focal distance, normal mirrors don't. If you go back and forth between vehicles with them and without them, it's frustrating.
