Rivian should focus on features that set them apart from the rest of the industry, not AA/CP.

Rivian should allow AA/CP so that they have the resources to focus on differentiators. They absolutely will not be able to invest in infotainment to the level that Apple and Google, who have billions of users, can. They are a niche manufacturer. They cannot invest billions in infotainment.

If they'll give third-parties access to their codebase they should grant it to some of us. We'll implement screen projection for them. I'll sign an NDA and do the work for free.
Tidal is likely giving them a cut of their subscription fees, but yeah, sign us up!

Likely Rivian doesn’t offer CarPlay because of Amazon, and because they pitched Rivian to investors as a New Age woo car company which makes money from “subscriptions”, not actually making cars. Silly stuff from an inexperienced CEO.

This is how I felt before I bought the truck. If they come out with a podcasting app other than spotify I will be happier. I podcast 85% of the time I drive and spotify is hot garbage for podcasting. My coworker did tell me you can use tune-in for podcasts, so I will be trying that soon.

I do miss waze, but Rivian maps are okay enough honestly... Like other users I liked knowing where cops were. I don't speed that much, but I haven't gotten a ticket in 19 years and I attribute a part of that to waze. It allows me to go a bit faster on highways knowing I'll be relatively safe from tickets.
I have used tune in for podcasts in my Tacoma and it's not bad. I'm not a heavy user of podcasts so I probably wouldn't know what separates the best from the rest in podcast apps. I do like audiobooks sometimes on road trips and I plan to just use the audible app on my phone connected via BT.

I have CP now and I'm honestly not that impressed with it. In a newer high end pioneer receiver it freezes or shuts down too often for my liking. The native pioneer UI works better IMHO and it also allows me to add other apps to it. I also understand that lots of people like CP/AA and I hope Rivian adds it eventually because it will make so many happy, but for me I can definitely live without it.

Great point, I believe I said this back in the day. For them to add one app must cost them a fortune in overhead.

I will attempt to use tune-in as a podcast app, and if it is close to as good as pocketcasts, I will shut the f*** up about carplay, promise :) (except for the phone app, messaging, google maps, and waze, but alas....) I podcast so much, and although I really like spotify for music, I hate it for podcasts. Up until last friday I had no idea tune-in hosts podcasts so I need to give that a look.

I actually tried it out after I knew that Rivian did not offer Sirius/ XM. I never listen to music on satellite radio because the sound quality is garbage, but I do listen to news/ sports fairly frequently. It can't compete with satellite for availability (it's only as good as your cell connection) but it does have a good selection of channels.

I’d like to see them focus on a spare tire “accessory”.

Oh and while they’re listening: a navigation system that’s adaptive, apple music, texting integration (read out), calendaring, call management, a waze app.

Please start with any one of these :p

I listen to quite a few podcasts, and when we made a decision about a music streaming service for the Tesla, I was good to go with Spotify since it supports music _and_ podcasts, not to mention, it's nearly ubiquitous support across pretty much everything.

(I actually asked the daughter - who's 14 - what she would prefer, Spotify or Apple Music, totally independent of the Tesla consideration, and she preferred Spotify).

I moved my podcast subs over to Spotify, we've got apps for MacOS, Winders™ , iOS, runs native in the Tesla and in CP, so we can access Spotify in the Jeep.

Tesla has of course added Apple Music as a native app, not CP, just the music streaming service, and that also doesn't include podcasts (since they split that out into a separate app/service).

My point. None really ?

So a pickup and SUV that has 4 electric motors and goes about 300 miles, with all sorts of safety features isn't setting them apart? Let's be realistic here, the infotainment system isn't going to help sell trucks, so give all of that Apple/Google and focus on the CAR part of it all.

Quicktake: Tunein also is some hot garbage. I will give it more than one shot but thats the quicktake. Maybe I'm just too picky. Oh well. I'll continue to bluetooth pocketcasts.

Those 25 Tidal users are really appreciating Rivian’s strategy of adding one new media app per year.
What? There are 24 others? Actually been super happy with tidal and no Spotify withdrawals.
