Park it yourself. Tell them your phone is the key and they’re not getting your phone.
I might do this. Good idea.

Im not so worried about keeping it new, more I’ve had a kid screw around in my Audi before when I took it for an oil change at the dealership. So it’s more being cautious about something that’s happened before.
I had a Mustang 5.0 once thwt was in for service at a Ford dealer and thry took it for spin outs in the gravel. Sides were all chipped up. That was a treat....

The last time I used valet parking, I talked the attendant into letting me park the truck myself. He was generous to allow it, and I gave a nice tip and explained that I really appreciated it.

But, it would be nice to have a dedicated valet drive mode. One that limits the vehicle speed, and locks down many areas of the truck... like the gear tunnels, truck bed, frunk, etc... where personal items could be stored safely.

And if the valet drive mode automatically activated the interior camera sensor to record the driver while we're away, and made it so we could monitor cabin activity using the Rivian App in Gear Guard... that'd be a bonus.

I know that I'd feel more secure about valet parking.

I would lose my shit and the dealer would be paying the body shop of my choice for a repaint. I think I'll be parking in a lot up the street before I get there and taking pictures of my truck so I can prove they caused any damage like that.

I solve this problem by deliberately never going anywhere nice enough that it might require valet service. Taco Palace has a drive thru:sun:

The place where I’m valeting is at one of Hilton’s curio collection hotels. Fancy enough to be decent valets?
Probably, but at least the company I worked for reversed into the parking spot. When I was a lot younger, cars were a lot slower, nowhere near as fast as this truck in reverse.

However, looking at the price of those hotels you have a decent shot they have parked a lot of high performance vehicles (model s plaid, etc). Is it valet only? If yes, are there any closeby paid structures to self park?

After valeting for a few years when I was younger, I'm going to avoid valeting this truck as long as I can...

There was a guy at my work many moons ago who would always roll up in a phanom (this is when they were still fairly new) and would demand to park it himself. Good riddance they felt as long as a 1/2 ton truck at the time. We would always let him. Especially with the, "my phone is the only key I have" I bet they would let you park it.

Went on a weekend trip and my wife wanted to stay at a hotel that was valet only. Wanted to take the Rivian and really dreaded the prospect of valet. They said (on the phone) that they'd charge it for me. Ended up staying elsewhere and saving $200/night and didn't have to valet. Win/win.

There's something ironic about paying extra for the privilege of parking your own damn vehicle. ? Though if I end up being forced to valet somewhere I'm absolutely going to use the phone as key thing.

Doubtful since it has Hilton in the name. I’m sure there’s a self park option!

I was just sort of kidding. I am at a point somewhat in life, where I figure you have to use these things. I went thru my younger days over protecting everything I owned. Wanted everything to last forever and look new forever. Not an easy habit to break, but working on it!
I'm with you. I don't baby things anymore... What's the point, it's not like my wife is going to leave me if the car is dirty or not in shiny anymore.

Took my wife out for a fancy night away from the kid at a hotel that was valet only. Pulled into the valet area and saw a twinkle in his eye looking at the Rivian. Rolled down the window and asked where the nearest city garage was and got the hell out of there.

Worth the 5 minute walk and flight of stairs for peace of mind.

I'm with Dogman. This feels like a spin on the Groucho Marx "...I refuse to join any club that would have me" joke.

My fears run more in the 'will my truck still have battery after a week in the woods' sort...
