Well, I spoke to my guide again and confirmed a switch from a R1T to the R1S. He assured me that it would only possibly delay my delivery a month or so beyond the expected Jan/Feb delivery of the R1T.

I'll update when I get a VIN and hopefully this decision isn't a terrible one.
With all the stories about bad information from guides, I'm skeptical.

The official statement from the Rivian Email a few weeks ago:
"If at any time you reconfigure or change your delivery address, your delivery estimate in your Account will update to “processing” pending our next scheduled refresh. It’s important to note that changing your configuration will almost always result in your delivery estimate moving back. "

Yeah, totally understand and agree w any frustration.

Yeah, I'm not super confident in my guide's prediction.. he doesn't seem 100% sure and quite a few of his explanations don't totally add up.

FYI, keeping this updated... After seeing it in person, I switched our config two weeks ago to:

El cap, forest edge, 22" bright wheels.

No word on a VIN or anything so far.

And a new update... Turns out my guide completely lied to me. I know, shocker right?

After not being matched to a VIN (I was told "any day now" in Nov and Dec), my guide kept saying to see what my new delivery estimate will be.

And, my new delivery estimate is Jan-June 2024. So, not only did I NOT get an R1S in my original timeline (Jan - Feb 23), I was apparently moved to the back of the line.

I know most of you are probably ambivalent (at best), but again, my intention was not to cut the line... only take advantage of what was offered to me by my guide, who are supposed to be the most knowledgeable people in the company.

I'm now pretty pissed because I would have been driving an R1T right now that would have cost me $7,500 less due to the tax credit that I'm now certain to miss out on.

So, yeah, your guide is a glorified CSR rep with canned responses and regardless of them being "super excited to get me behind the wheel of my new R1S ASAP", they don't actually care.

You were not pushed to the back of the line, if you had been that would be late 2024. Based on your order date, which is very similar to mine for an S you have the correct window - which is as it should be.

Sucks your guide told you that (they may have been wrong but not lying) but it's 100% the right thing to put you in line where your order date mandates.

And I don't think "I didn't want to cut the line, I was just doing what my guide said" makes any sense. You knew your guide was letting you cut the line, and you happily and intentionally went along.

I’ve seen several times information reported from guides that was obviously wrong. I’m not sure if it’s the guides or a misunderstanding of what the guide said or complete miscommunication. Either way if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

My guide also told me yesterday with 100% confidence that Rivian was not producing ANY adventure trim R1S until 2024...

I showed him the list of everyone from the forum expecting and ADV trim delivery as soon as march/april 23 and he "looked into it further" and then changed his opinion.

In your other messages dating back to November, you express extreme skepticism about your guide's story. Now you're blaming him for you missing out on the tax credit. Sounds like you were really hoping he could come through for you and let you cut the line (and let's be real, you knew that's exactly what he'd be doing for you), but were completely aware of the risk it wouldn't pan out.

Lol, I wouldn't say I had extreme skepticism... I chose to trust that my guide, who Rivian says is all-knowing, was just that. And my bet did not pay off.

And I never once said that I wasn't cutting the line. I said that I was taking advantage of an opportunity offered to me. Every single person on this forum would do exactly that given the option.

You said "Yeah, I'm not super confident in my guide's prediction.. he doesn't seem 100% sure and quite a few of his explanations don't totally add up." so it's clear that you knew the risks going in that it wasn't going to pan out.

As for cutting the line, you said "my intention was not to cut the line." But that's 100% what you were doing, and you were doing it on purpose (even if at the invitation of your guide). I'd take an early delivery too, but don't pretend that your intentions were pure.
