Happy to answer questions.

A few things I want to highlight: You can purchase separate top plates if you would like to experiment with stains or sealers. Each complete kit includes a DC-DC buck charger that frees up the USB in the center console. (No more wires running there and it frees up the ports for other things). If you want to use your own Magsafe pucks... that's fine! Just order the premium charger without our charging pucks. I have been using the Apple Masgsafe chargers for the past few weeks with no issues; whereas @Wrinks has been using the Jaux ones. If you would like anything customized let us know in the notes, and we can let you know if its possible.

You can also see in the video that I ended up using some steel wool to remove the sheen. I think it does a good job, and I am really happy with the end result. This was a lot of work and I am hoping you are as happy with it as I am.
I installed mine this morning. So far so good! @Sojhinn , I really like your solution of completely replacing the OEM charger freeing up the USB ports in the center console. Aesthetics are good in my opinion.

Things to make it even better?

1. Wire management is a bit cumbersome during installation. Shorter cords would help. Also, figuring out a way to eliminate the USB-A to USB-C adapters would save some space as well.

2. A softer rubber-like top plate and "granola" cup would be awesome. Things in the granola cup slide around quite a bit and rattle as well. I'm tempted to try putting on something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Flex-Seal-Li...liquid+rubber+sealant+coating+,aps,147&sr=8-1

1. Good news! We fixed the wire management with the USB adapter. It's much better on the newer iteration. Also no more usb a to usb c adapter.

2. In the granola bowl.... yeah a few people wanted that rubber. Plasti-Dip may be a good option as well. I would recommend not doing it to the top plate though. You don't want to make it any thicker.

There is a lot to read here. Can someone summarize for me? I have the following:

Problem: Rivian wireless charging isn't very fast and phones slide around on the OEM and don't charge well because of the charger and sliding

This solution: Includes a better charger and plate so the phones don't slide around and charging is faster.

Don't understand: the pucks. These are for iPhone only? Android doesn't need the pucks?

Thanks!

Charging pucks are the magsafe pucks that actually do the wireless charging. They work with android or iphones, but not all androids have the magnets to lock it into place. (You can buy magsafe rings from amazon though).

This is just an all in one solution to that problem that keeps the USB ports open in the center console. We offer the charging pucks with our solution or you can bring your own.

ok, so if I don't need the magsafe pucks, but want to do the best wireless charging I can with an android I would just want the top plate and use the ones that come with the rivian?

No you would need our full charging solution. We don't use anything from Rivian in our product. So you are replacing the wireless pad, and replacing it with this one. IF you watch the install video you can see what I mean. No matter what you will need some form of charging pucks.

IMO, if you don't already use MagSafe and know that it's a good fit for your phone, this probably isn't the right solution for you.

There are magsafe friendly cases for some Android phones that would probably work - check out e.g. the Peak Design Mobile series for Galaxy or Pixel phones. But until Android/Qi officially embraces MagSafe, this is primarily an iPhone solution.

That's not necessarily true. Magsafe as a whole is similar to Qi charging, the only difference being the magnet locking ability of magsafe. We also have several people running the charger with Android phones who either are using magsafe cases, or are using the magsafe rings that can be purchased from Amazon. Their experiences with the solution have been very positive. Its a misnomer to think Magsafe is an iphone only solution, as it works great with Android.

I really like this, is there any way to use the OEM top mat instead of the wood? I suppose the 3D print would have to be adjusted to shrink the "granola bowl" for a perfect match. Always prefer solutions that change the look as little as possible.

Nope. The rubber mat is too thick. Blocks charging. That's one of the biggest issues.

I guess the alternative would be to make cut outs in the original mat for the pucks to fit through ?. I think you guys have a really inventive solution and it’s obvious you went through some R/D to get this product where it is. Nice job.

Sorry, didn't mean to suggest it can't work great - just that for non-iPhone folks who don't know what "MagSafe" is, they'll want to make sure they understand a solution that works for their phone. if they want to get the full benefit of the charger. Seems like there are lots of good case/magnet options these days!
