Sure, but what OP is frustrated about is that Rivian never told him about the change at any point during the purchasing process. He had to reach out to someone at the company to ask about it. I'm sure he would have different feelings and wouldn't have made this post if during the purchase process Rivian told him that took the audio in house and no longer make vehicles with Meridian sound systems. That is what they should have done. And they didn't.
This assumes that people will notice a material difference in a blind study. If said blind study revealed no statistically significant difference, it shouldn’t matter one bit

How many people are asking at delivery what might have been changed from when they put their preorder in, knowing that they signed an agreement that states things might be different? Has anyone asked for Rivian to limit their vehicles power to the original estimate of 750hp vs the 835hp they have now for example?

That passage in the order agreement that says they may need to change the builds is the only warning they need to give that everything that was available when you ordered might not appear in your vehicle when it's finally delivered. That's it.

OP is free to whine about whatever they want, but it's disingenuous. They were warned when they ordered.

Do people expect a personal phone call from RJ when the factory is running low on 12v outlets?

What's insane is that 90% of owners call this the best vehicle they've ever owned even after they've taken away all those features on your list!
I think that says more about the nature of early adopters and people answering surveys.

I'm tempted to make a rather ridiculous side-by-side comparison of my Rivian and my Jeep Wrangler.

Jeep Wrangler Positives:
Has Adaptive Cruise control that actually works
FM radio gets more stations and sounds better
Heater Steering wheel actually gets warm
Has wipers that work even in heavy down pour
You can bump things without it being totaled

Rivian Positives:
You can crash it without dying which is important to some people.

I will be taking bets on how long it takes before this thread gets mentioned in a national blog about how all Rivian owners are "up in arms" about the change to the stereo system.

It's definitely something they should explain during purchasing and during your walk through. I imagine there are some people out there that don't read their emails, put down an old email, don't read the forums, etc. and aren't up to date on everything Rivian. The point of the Guide and the walk through is to explain everything about the vehicle you are buying. And with things apparently constantly changing, that is more important than ever.

Just imagine that your parent placed the order years ago and they go to pick up their Rivian and think it still comes with an automatic tonneau cover or has tank turn. A week later you find out it doesn't have those features and you had no idea. Would you be upset that they never mentioned it? Yeah, I think so.

That would be the case if they weren't leveraging brand name recognition to sell a higher end package.

Even if you gave people something better than you'd still be accused of bait and switch if what you gave them didn't have the brand name they expected.

That being said Rivian used language that prevents people from having any recourse. So its all kind of moot.

It’s moot, not mute, which is what you do to your TV.

People gonna be up in arms if Rivian decides to put on GoodYear or Michelin tires, instead of Pirelli?

Brand name components dont matter, so long as long as they perform to spec

No, but you should be told about things that have changed when you purchasing the vehicle or during your walk through. Especially because things/features are changing so quickly. It's impossible to keep up with. I feel like every week there is something new in this forum.

I just want an A/B test to know if the new system is good or sucks. That's all. I don't care if its not Meridian.
That test would be mostly meaningless because the results would be the opinion of one person's ears. The few people who have heard the new system vs the Meridian system say both are good.

Is there some kind of national award for whining that I'm not aware of? Because there seems to be a bunch of people pushing hard to be crowned the winner lately.

We didn't get Pre March-2022 pricing by not complaining. :)

When Rivian increased the price back in March of 2022 I thought people had lost their minds. There was no guarantee of price when a person placed the reservation.

A day later that the price increase was reversed for Pre March Reservation holders so the whiners won.

Whiners won with Tesla so many times that I lost count. But, I think those days are long since gone as Tesla is too big for whiner to win anything meaningful.

They should have never honored pre-order pricing. It would have been better to take a one-time hit, then to have to deal with the whine of people complaining: “why aren’t preorders getting their cars first?!”

If it's "mostly meaningless", it's probably good enough for me. If there's a dramatic quality difference, it should be mostly apparent by someone.

The way to make money is to not make 25,000 vehicles a year in a factory that is designed to produce 150,000 vehicles a year. The answer is to produce 150,000 vehicles a year.
Damn, someone get RJ on the horn. I can't believe he hasn't thought of this.
