Op, we have a lot of them around here too, it's like they're still in high school and need to try and prove themselves of self worth. A lot of them like to lift their pickups and put extra wide wheels and tires on. I guess it makes them feel big. The funny part is once they park and get out, it's some dude that looks like he never stepped foot in a gym.

There are losers on both sides of the political fence. I have both a lifted Cummins and an R1T. I have had more Prius owners flipping off my Ram than I have had Bubba's trying to roll coal on the R1T. My Ram does not roll coal but it is big and some huggers don't like it. Probably losers from the old website where people posted pictures of themselves flipping off Hummers. The one Duramax owner that thought he was gonna get me got a surprise when we left the light....buh bye. ?

I’d say generally, drivers of ICE, beefed up trucks are Republicans. You can superimpose certain demographic info and get more confidence on the assessment too.
I agree with that 100%, from my observation.

Years ago I had a dimwit Hummer driver stop over to pick up a few things, first thing he did was complain of gas prices and the amount of fuel the Hummer guzzles, then blamed politics, except for his of course. I mean comeon, you couldn't figure out the Hummer will guzzle gas????

I'd leave this thread open ... ?

I'm in the Northeast and one would think I'd never run into these issues ... Had a lifted pickup truck tailgating me like a jacka** on a local road recently ...

Definitely because I was in an EV ... Oh plus I'm South Asian which didn't help ...

So strange how much of one’s identity these people attach to their trucks
One guy I work with has a lifted Silverado (which he loves to talk about) and a Colorado. He didn't appreciate it when I told him my truck had more power than both of his combined.

I mean, how does RAM think they’re going to sell any meaningful number of EV trucks, if their current customer base act this way?
Your mistake is assuming Stellantis actually wants to sell EVs.

I didn't have issues with any lifted pickups when I was driving the Hummer through red states but it was bigger than a lot of their trucks already anyway.

I think a lot of the ignorant people just assume Rivian is an Asian car company because they look different.

Lots of generalities and aspersions being cast in this thread.

I live in the "redest" part of a very red state and have not once had someone harass me in any way after 9 months of ownership. I get lots of looks, some stares, some questions, and some thumbs up.

People can be (are) assholes regardless of what they drive or what their political affiliation is. It's just more noticeable when they are in a lifted truck with big tires ?‍♂

This. I have had the same experience when driving a bigger truck.

We have a Cummins for pulling horses and are on our second Prius (great cars). I don't have any issues with diesels as they serve a good purpose. I do have an issue deleting emissions for increased power - have to agree with an earlier post about sizes of appendages...

Deleting also increases mileage by a considerable amount. My current Cummins is not deleted. My older 2007 got 8-10 mpg better than my current truck. The current one may get an emissions on tune.

In Arkansas on vacation. Plenty of interactions with locals, many of whom one might assume potentially hostile to EV’s. Most knew what it was and were positive and curious. Wife did get coal rolled first night we were here. She dusted them even though still in conserve from drive down.

Dudes in oversized trucks can git riled by all kinds of vehicles. They love to "race" my miata for instance.

Same here. We had a RAM for pulling horses (short distances), but we now use the Rivian. We also have had different generations of Prius, Tesla Model S, etc. They're all great cars and do different jobs well.
