Congrats from another Forest Greener in the DMV!

Did they mention when the new SC will open? I have a service appt in Richmond in a couple weeks, but Gaithersburg is much closer.

According to my guide it was built like 2 months ago and he's not seeing any service issues that would delay it, so he's not sure. He said I should be driving it by now

The only thing I can think of that might be slowing it down is I had the factory front PPF added. I have no idea It will come eventually. This has been a great exercise in patience.

Thanks! Afraid I didn't ask specifics, but if the staff is down there for training I can only assume "soon"? Distance-wise it's about the same either way for me, but am hoping traffic going up from No. VA is less than going down to RVA? #shrug ?‍

I'm hoping they'll build one in Tysons at some point. The number of big-money dealerships (and car drivers) around here already, it seems like it would make sense. After all, Tesla's had a showroom here for years... ??

Gaithersburg is about the same distance from me as Brooklyn and I hope that SC is available to me for delivery when Rivian finally calls my number. There's a planned SC for Lawrenceville, NJ which would be closer than either and great for service, but I suspect that one will be a while.

I’ve always wanted the manual one actually. I had switched to the powered version for a brief time when it sounded like Rivian was only delivering that version, but switched back as soon as that changed again.

Honestly I’m not that stressed about it. I have no control over what happens at the factory and it’s obvious my guide is trying but they don’t have access to all the information that would help him answer those questions so I just check in each week and go on with my life. My delivery estimate is still April-May so realistically I have nothing to complain about.

The worst part was I started to get excited because he told me almost 2 months ago it was built and to expect my 8 steps email any day. Hard to dial that back!

Picked mine up Saturday (4/29). Excited. General notes/observations:
- Original reservation: January 2022 Max pack, black exterior and interior, 20 AT Black, manual tonneau
- Located in Massachusetts
- Had many store options, with many changes/subtractions/additions
- Went to the service center on a Sunday while closed to check out colors/tires (was cool to see so many Rivians in one place)
- Liked all the colors but Blue stuck out, followed by red
- Took the plunge and selected a blue launch with black AT tires
- Had all kinds of doubts/second guesses
- Canceled
- Guide was great and got me shop access again, real quick and spoke with me a couple of times to answer questions and give advice.
- Chose an Adv Blue with road tires
- It was ready for pick up in about 15 days
- Pick up was smooth and easy. Tech spent as much time with us (about 45 mins) as we wanted.
- Minor issues I noticed/have noticed:
Film protection on gear tunnel door peeling (they fixed this on the spot)
One gear tunnel door does not close as smoothly as other
Drivers side door doesn't close as smoothly as others
- Overall a really good experience with guide and service center
- It was hard to give up my model 3 and Tesla charging network. I really like the model 3.
- I'm using the included mobil charger on a nema 14-50 with 50 amp breaker for now. First charge avg about 16 miles added per hour (model 3 was 30)
- It barely fits in the garage (can't walk around it and access side garage door)
- It's huge compared to the m3. Going to take a while to adjust driving, especially around town
- Kids wanted me to stick w model 3 but then saw it and changed their minds.

It was a difficult decision but time will tell. Looking forward to camping and ski trips.
