I think it looks great. I love the 1500 combustion and this looks like a 1500. The interior is nice. I agree it's busy dash, but I think the R1T is too clean. I don't hate buttons, but Rivian does, haha. That said, I've sat in plenty of 1500s and that's what a 1500 looks like on the inside. Great for the movement when you consider converting traditional Ram owners to electric. They will be at home. Road trips sound sweet too. Charge for 10 minutes to get 110 miles of range (assuming you find a fast charger)? Sounds great

This was somehow enough for me to drop $100 on a non-refundable, non-vehicle price applicable "membership" to be able to preorder a RAM 1500 early.

If they can deliver on 500 miles of range, I'm in.

Also, Alex on Autos had a bit about the weight in his videos today. Apparently, with the base battery - despite being bigger than the F150L - it weighs about the same. With the BIG battery, it's significantly lighter than the small moon that is the Hummer and upcoming Silverado, thus the range.

Proof is in the pudding though. We shall see...

Lets see how accurate their internal simulations are. 229kWh battery is just ridiculous. I have to wonder what the biggest size is going to be available in the Cybertruck. I imagine RAM just got tired of waiting for Tesla to release new figures.
And the REV XR will be even larger than 229kWh. I'm a bit skeptical though. I'm predicting this is going to go the same way it did for GM. Promise range and pack size estimates only to come up short once the test mules start running around and reality hits them. There's a good chance that they're also wishing/hoping that battery prices will plummet. I've had my Lightning for a bit over 3 months now and aside from it being more vulnerable to cold temperatures than I'd like, it delivers on range promised, often doing better if I don't try to run 75+ MPH. It's not the most efficient pack design as they crammed it into a minimally modified F-150 chassis, but even with that there's still some room for more cells and they scaled back from what they originally designed in order to meet pricing targets. Ford's "T3" next-gen truck also due in 2025 will probably hit 500+ mile ranges just fine as long as people are willing to pay for all those batteries. Same with Cybertruck. CT will have a 500+ mile range and as Elon and Franz have said, they can give it more if people are willing to pay for it, it's just not going to make that much economic sense.. They may still offer it up (600~700 miles) if RAM does.

I believe Ram has previously mentioned a range extender option on the Rev. I'm guessing this may be the XR instead of an even bigger battery pack.

My curiosity will be more focused on what kind of TOWING Range that big-ass battery will offer. If this truck can pull say 7,500 lb aero-trailer a good 250+ miles then finally there's a legit EV option for cross-country adventuring.
Likely the same as any other EV - assume 50% range as a good guess. It doesn't have anything special that's going to change that, it just has more base range, hence more towing range, but it's likely to still be half as much as when it's unburdened

I just don't believe RAM can hit 500 miles on a single charge, unless its on the back of a flatbed. Or any manufacturers for a EV only truck, with todays current technology, maybe in 5-10 years that will change, but most won't need that range if the charging infrastructure gets better, unless they are truly towing large distances. I would like to be wrong.

Manufacturers love to throw out high numbers for press, attention, and preorders. And then as production and delivery near, things change. The Ram concept was made to grab attention, and it did. And now this "production version" is a lot more tame/mild. Same could be said for Rivian, there are any number of threads about how Rivian changed things between their announcement and their production version. The production version is still great though.

The range for towing with an ICE vehicle also gets cut in half. The only difference is that refueling is much quicker. I think the last light duty ICE vehicles to be replaced by EVs will be ones that do a lot of towing. And that's ok. Most people don't need to drive 1000 miles in a day in an EV so when chargers become more and more common then it will be easier to road trip in an EV.

That and ICE trucks typically have a much larger range on top of the quick refueling. It’s not even about 1000 miles in a day. The magic number is towing 300 miles on a single charge. The first manufacturer to make that happen will get a lot of the EV holdouts.

Easier but will not be a easy as gasoline which is Way Way Quicker, available everywhere, accepts all payments, competitive pricing, portable, amenities e to c etc.

Aptera is still planning on delivering 1000 mile range eventually.
Funny you should mention the Aptera.

While I hope that the R1S with the Large pack will have enough range to allow my me, my wife and our two Welshies to cover about 120 miles when towing our small teardrop, I'm not counting on it and am holding on to our Telluride. If the results with the Rivian are disappointing, I''ll simply keep the Kia for towing the camper (and for winter trips) and get an EV for the many other routine purposes.

To that end, I have a reservation in for the 400 mile Aptera, with AWD and added solar panels. That vehicle will take care of trips to the store, visits to the dog park and to meet up with our grown children who live about 25 miles away. Aptera says that I can expect about 30-40 miles of added range from the PV panels on sunny days, and they also claim it could be in my driveway early next year.

Exactly but it wasn’t always like that. It took time which it will for EVs.

30-40 miles per day w/solar? I don't believe it!

How, does it fan out when parked? Even in ideal conditions I don't see how it could have enough surface area/cells to draw that amount of power. If that is somehow possible I think it is fantastic. Apologies for my skepticism but until I see claims like this produce I take it as hyperbole.

If it really gets 10 miles per kW I suppose on a really good day and parked in the optimal location it could. I have a 6.2 kw system, it generated 37 kw today. At 700 watts with the proper orientation that setup could have generated 4.1 kW.
