It's definitely a situation that is not ideal and shows the system needs some work. Regardless of all the technicalities in the background that occur (proximity to the service center, configuration, order date, etc.), an April 2022 order shouldn't be delivered before a 2019 order. That's a big difference in order time and I can understand the frustration. My brother-in-law that literally has the exact same config as the one I got from the shop has a 2019 preorder. He lives 30 minutes from me, even closer to the service center. Obviously, he's not happy. My R1S should have been his and I would have given it to him if there was even a way to transfer R1 Shop access. There are too many vehicles sitting on the lots that don't have owners matched to them and Rivian should do whatever possible to speed up the process to get those off the lots and sold. As terrible as the experience is when trying to buy a ticket on Ticketmaster, or a GPU on Newegg, I think opening up the shop to all pre-price increase reservations on a first come first serve basis, refreshing the page a million times a day, is better than what is happening now.
