I think the center console display is just way too much wasted space. Each of those screen modes you select could fit onto a screen half the size. The radio screen is just silly. And why is the strip of buttons along the bottom so small? The only mode that might need all of that real estate is Nav, and even that's a "stretch".

I think the left third/quarter of the screen should be dedicated to something that's useful and always there, like maybe a bunch of driving data, like SOC, distance since last charge, distance to destination, current m/kwh, a graphic of power versus regen, battery temp, what driving mode you're in, how much power each motor is producing. All the stuff should be able to see without going into a menu and done graphically and creatively. Or maybe the radio/audio screen is always there. And then use the right side of the screen to toggle between your AC and map and driving mode selection and whatnot.

I don't need a huge picture of the vehicle I'm driving looking back at me from the dash.

I had a Mercedes GLB for a loaner car a couple of times. It's one of their cheaper cars and not particularly sporty, but that thing provided all kinds of data through the MBUX; the angle of the steering wheel, how much power the engine was currently producing, how much of the power was going to each axle - all kinds of stuff.

They're monitoring it all somewhere, there's no good reason not to display it. It can help you diagnose issues and help you help CS diagnose issues. "My regen is cutting out at X battery temp all the time."

Two things I use the most are the clock - located so far to the right on the main screen that the sun often washes it out. Also taking your eyes off the road, refocusing at a new distance, and off angle to the direction of travel takes too long as to be dangerous. The other, is a trip meter that is not buried, again on the main screen. I often get an update on the remaining distance to my next turn or destination and immediately glance down to the mileage, ADD the change, and calculate what the mileage will be when I should start looking for the turn/destination. Unfortunately, that works with an odometer NOT the estimated mileage left in the battery where you would SUBTRACT and will even change depending on conditions. It just seems like it would be so much easier to have an odometer with tenths of a mile right in the front center where you could just glance at it for a split second and drive on. Am I the only one who thinks this way?

Agree that being able to put some "data" or other key items in a "static" location on the center screen would be really nice.

I find that I am regularly toggling between drive mode, navigation, and music. Being able to "pin" one or 2 of those on part of the screen would be really nice. The biggest thing I need (since turn-by-turn is in the "cluster") is the "range at arrival" in the "instrument cluster" when using navigation.

I don't need a huge picture of the vehicle I'm driving looking back at me from the dash.
I also don't find this useful when not using the radar cruise. Also, when the radar starts going off, the 360 view should replace the 3D render of the truck.

Yes. I only did this when I had crappy GPS systems. :p

But an odometer (and/or trip) and clock would absolutely be nice additions that take minimal space.

Bump to continue this discussion as the struggle is real. I'm about to go crosseyed just seeking the time of day and outside temps, and have completely given up trying to find a trip odometer which somehow has gotten further buried in the center screen depths of hell. ABRP integration is now rerouting me to recharge on trips that have no need.

To continue the surrounding pedestrian/vehicle screen rant, it only shows cars in my line of sight. My eyesight is fine, how about using the center driver screen for critical driver info? For the love of gawd, please.

Further, I was away from much of the past 3 months and after a few updates, seems as though I can no longer toggle the left side of the driver's display between kWh, music, and maps?

It's like Rivian Comms is running dashboard display or something. I kid, I kid. Sorta.

Press and hold the left steering wheel buttons. You can still change the display

Am I wrong in assuming it cannot be THAT difficult to add an option to put this info in the upper right?

Is that real estate used for something else critical that I’m not recalling?

Nope. And it should be default. And you should be able to change/reset trip info from this display as well. I can't comprehend how trip info isn't surfaced directly on the navigation app (vs buried where it currently is) at the very least, but it should also be accessible from the drivers display with steering wheel controls at all times as well.

The only practical reason I see for it not being there is visibility. I know my steering wheel blocks this area.

Mine does too, but I can certainly skooch a little up/down/left/right to see it if I need to. I'd happily deal with that for a quick glance - it's not something I need to see every second, but it might be something I want to glance at every 15-30 minutes on a trip without needing to use the center console for it

In that case, would either of these work?

what is needed is a customizable driver screen if we want to make a majority of folks happy. everyone wants to see different things so asking for a specific list will only make some happy and some not. that being said ?, one thing i would add permanently is time and temperature. shouldnt have to look at the top right corner of the main screen for that.

anyway, i find that screen very useful as is. i like all the "feedback" that i see on the screen: position of the tires, brake lights on/off, headlights on/off, traffic, drive mode, drive height. it gives me more confidence to know/see what the vehicle computers knows/sees.
