By chance, I realized our Rivians have a feature that can be life saving in a very theatric way. Hopefully I never need to use it, but I’m sure someone is going to abuse it on YouTube at some point (and I hope Rivian doesn’t take it from us as a result).
After backing up in a hurry while using the rear view camera, I switched the car into drive and briefly started driving forwards when I realized my front windshield sunscreen was still up…
Had I wanted to, I could’ve kept going and driven the truck home like a video game because the R1T automatically switched to the forward facing camera. Don’t recommend this, but for a few seconds I drove just looking at the screen. Definitely possible.
I realized that if I made a few wrong turns and ended up in a situation where I was being shot at, I could crouch down like James Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies and drive by screen to get to safety.
Anyway, just throwing this out there in case you find yourself in the middle of a shootout ??. I’m sure there are countless other creative scenarios where this feature can come in use other than for the intended off-roading and parking.
