That's not how it works in my truck. It doesn't matter if I am touching the steering wheel or not, if I am not looking ahead, the eye nanny will fuss at me. Could it be a Gen1 vs. Gen2 difference? This is normal. If you aren’t touching the steering wheel the inside camera starts monitoring your head and eye movements. The warning will go away once you start monitoring the road.
Lightly rest you hand or finger on the wheel and you won’t get the warning pop up and you can enjoy the scenery.
