Someone please explain how someone who preordered a *nearly identical* R1S configuration 3 months (6/21) AFTER I preordered mine (3/21) could have gotten his delivered two weeks ago especially AFTER he changed his exterior color to my original exterior color (Midnight) and his wheels (22") at the 11th hour while I'm still waiting for my July-August delivery window estimate!? Essentially, the ONLY 2 differences in his configuration and mine are that I included skid plates and 20" AT blacked out wheels. Could skid plates and 20" AT wheels be the hold up?

Too much information missing here and in the end the answer would still be, nobody but Rivian knows unfortunately.

No. How would I get one at this point?

And, just to clarify, he did NOT have access to the shop either. He literally went to the Brooklyn SC 1st Drive 6 weeks ago, and then changed his configuration and all of a sudden he gets notified even though his delivery window then LIKE MINE was July-Sept; i.e. he did NOT take something from the shop which was NOT his configuration.

I'd reach out to customer service and inquiry why you haven't been assigned a guide given your 3/21 pre-order date.

Yeah that was my plan today.

Ironically, I had second thoughts about going with the 20" AT wheels in April but did NOT want to change my configuration since I did NOT want to risk another delivery window slide, and yet he changes his exterior AND wheels and gets bumped ahead of me in the list! SMH

Plus, I just test drove an R1S at the Brooklyn SC on Wed, yet no follow up like his.

If they took your info at Brooklyn about flexibility, download the Rivian app and see if you have a guide assigned in there (Profile -> Ask Us Anything). I had a great convo with at the Brooklyn SC on Saturday 5/6 during my first mile and he took down all my info (config preferences) and I had a guide assigned by 5/9. Might've been sooner but I didn't check until then. I had my guide intro call and had access to the shop on 5/10 and picked my config on 5/11.

As expected, the answer from Rivian support was most UNSATISFYING to my question of the effect on changing my configuration to 22" Dark wheels and dropping the Reinforced Body Shield now:

It would likely impact that delivery window, yes. we aren't sure if it would be delaying the order or improving the timing because because what is really happening there is your vehicle would likely then be coming from a different batch on the schedule, since these batches are preplanned in production

WTH Now I'm really pissed since I was there on 5/10 and no one offered me anything (guide, config preference, access to the shop, etc.) and no follow up. That's what I get for scheduling my first mile appointment at the end of the day (4:30pm) which was the only time I could make it. SMH

And, let's just say test driving a R1S in Brooklyn rush hour traffic wasn't exactly an ideal time/place. I don't think I even got up to 25 mph let alone testing the 0-60 mph time. SMH

I was patient until my I found out about that the guy in my building at work his nearly identical R1S despite his preorder date 3 months after mine and that he changed his configuration 6 weeks ago! SMH Now, I'm just pissed and can no longer be a Rivian apologist. Their preorder/delivery process is just utter B.S.

What did the conversation go like when you did your drive? I chatted with the rep doing the first mile drive for about 5 minutes before even looking at the car and one of the things we talked about was my flexibility with configuration, not needing to trade in or finance, and getting on the lead list. After the drive he went through a string of questions on his iPad filling out my a bunch of different questions and attached it to my order number.
