Well, my declaration of victory was premature. Seems as though it's pretty much the same as before the SW update on the phone. Back to square one...ugh...

Guess I'll keep a ticket open with Rivian and discuss further on my next visit...
What phone did you have before the Ultra 23? For me, I had a Note 20, and PaaK seemed to work really well until the phone updated to Android 13. Since then, like you whether on my Note 20, or after I upgraded to the Ultra 23, it only seems to work after I reboot the phone, and then only for hours or a day at most.

Sounds about the same for me too. Of course, everytime I go into the garage and not to the truck it unlocks
Oh yes, I see the same thing. Strangely, PAAK worked flawlessly for me since taking delivery of the truck until the last update....

I had an S22 Ultra and it always worked just fine. Not sure what Android version I was on - gave it to my son...not sure what he's done with it. Wife's phone is also on Android 13...Hmmm...

S20 FE here - worked when I bought the truck and for about 3 hours after - and not since.

I have a travel phone that is an N200 - it seems to work fine.

The PAAK uses some standards - the thing about standards, they are not as standard as you think. So it's a Samsung / google / Rivian issue. Hopefully one or all fixes it soon!

I really don't like the carabiner - I think I'll lose it. Might be glue time!

So...I discussed my ongoing issues with my phone with Rivian CS yesterday. The CS Rep spoke with some of the engineers working these PAAK issues and called me back. He acknowledged that Rivian is aware of the issue with some phones and is actively working it. The recommendation from the engineer was, when experiencing the problems, to switch the phone to Airplane mode then back to normal ops. I tried this and have had some success but it still takes the phone and the truck a minute or two to sync back up. Once they sync, PAAK seems to work for a while. Unfortunately, after being away from the truck for some period of time (overnight?), the problems return and above steps must be repeated. Of course, a reboot temporarily corrects the problem as well.

Good to know Rivian is still working the problem...bummed to see it's still not fixed. Saga continues...

Same here. My truck sometimes doesn't even acknowledge the fob and I have to manually wake it in the app before anything happens. That's super fun when it's cold/raining.

Update: I still have some issues with the phone not being recognized upon walk-up to the truck. Each time this happens, I've done as Rivian recommended - briefly setting the phone to "airplane" mode - 5 count - "airplane" mode off. May take as long as 20-30 seconds but the phone and truck seem to re-sync and PAAK works as advertised. Not fixed but much better than having to do a full restart of the phone.

Hopeful for a final fix soon. If you are having similar issues, try the "airplane" mode switch and post here if that's working for you.

Thanks to all for the feedback here...

I'm having issues with my fob too. I can be right beside the truck - click the unlock button, and nothing happens. I have to move a few feet and it works.

My fob has never blinked...always a good alternative for me. Have you ensured your fob battery is good? Might be worth a swap and see if it still has issues.

Interesting, PAAK has been better for me since the last release, though I'm an iPhone user. It works flawlessly when there's not a lot of other vehicles around, but in a busy parking lot it sometimes takes longer. I've found if I have my phone open and unlocked it works more reliably. I haven't had a time when it just didn't work like I used to before, so that's an improvement. I feel like it's actually on the same level as my Model 3 with reliability of the PAAK, like 80%.

I've had the truck a week. I noticed last night, I clicked to unlock, and there is a like a 2-4 second delay till the truck responds. Anyone else have this?

I also noticed, as I approach the truck, the rear break lights flash. Like it knows the fob is close.

The truck will tell you if the battery fob is low from the last update. Mine says it's fine, still has questionable performance. Sometimes it works amazingly well, sometimes I stand there for 30-45s before anything happens, sometimes I even have to go into the app and wake the truck manually before anything happens.

For both of you guys, this seems like odd behavior. I would certainly open a ticket and let Rivian figure it out. Maybe you have an issue with your fobs? Regardless, let Rivian look at it. Good luck...

I've had a ticket open with them for a while now, they're looking into it so there's that. They've been good about calling to check in, get more data, ask questions, etc so hopefully progress is being made on their end. If this was Tesla they would have just said it's "within specs" and told me to go away. :)

So it's been almost a month since any updates on here about the S23 PAAK. Is it still iffy?

I have an S20 Ultra 5G running Android 13 that's be working fine for PAAK, but the USB-C port is worn and is non-functional, so wireless charging only. With a lot of international travel coming up, I figure I'll upgrade my phone to either an iPhone 14 Pro Max or an S23 Ultra very soon.

From what I've read online, Android 13 on the S23 is a problem for most vehicles that offer PAAK, not just Rivian. Also, the iPhone 14s seem to work just fine as PAAk. I'm not a "never Apple" user (2 iPads, 2 MacBooks, a Mac Pro, a Mac Studio and 4 Windows PCs....yeah, lots of hardware for the office, home and shop.) I'd like to stick with Android, but if there's still a problem with S23s and PAAK, I'll take a pass.

So what's the word? Any improvement on functionality with the S23 running Android 13?
