3. Very Annoying! Hopefully next week ?. I need a lot of details before I fully commit even though I'm a Fan based off of what I have seen online.
I think most of us on this forum are Rivian fans. Personally, with a week to go before delivery month, the response of “soon”, “very soon”, “around the corner” to every single question I ask CS is just no longer acceptable. I know others here feel differently than me, which is totally fine.

I’ve never worked so hard to love a company that makes themselves so hard to love.

2) So far there is no indication that a single showroom or service center has been completed and is ready to open
The service center in Bellevue, WA appears to be near completion. The building is painted and branded, and the parking lot is recently paved. Looks as if it could open at any time.

Just like to point out something that will likely ruffle feathers: if Rivian didn’t sell a single R1T or R1S after the preorder holders were taken care of they will still be a successful company. WTF?? You are thinking.

Here is the reality.
Rivian has delivered vehicles. Amazon vans are on the road today. Looking at guesstimates based on other delivery vans and adding a bit for electrification, each of these vans is likely $70k or possibly more. They have an order for 100,000 over ten years. So doing the math, this startup has a guaranteed income of 7 billion over ten years as long as they deliver those vehicles.
Will they deliver kickass trucks, SUVs, and rally cars(eventually)? Yup.
Do they need to be the number one by sales in trucks to be successful? Nope.
Rivian is playing a MUCH bigger long game.

We like to value ourselves a touch too much. Yes we are important to them. However, as long as they build quality vehicles (even if they don’t match our understanding of their timelines), they will be a solid company that folks look at ten years from now to learn how to tackle big challenges quietly.

A year from now some of you will be driving a different vehicle, but many of us will be splashing through the puddles in our Rivians and reflecting on how stressed we were by something as ethereal as which day in May or June and how many vehicles would be considered keeping their promises.

Only a handful of people are 6 weeks from delivery - and from what I've seen not any of them are so full of angst about knowing all the details. They seem to be fully aware that they will know the details before they are asked to fork over their money (not always the case with all EV startups/new models). Many of the whiners are many, many months from delivery and will have lots of time to digest the details of the interior (or whatever their particular pet peeve is) before committing to a purchase.
We'll likely see a full interior walk-around many weeks before deliveries start.
People keep bringing up Lucid as "we know everything", but their disclaimer:

While this is common sense,it is becoming more uncommon. Sad state of times when a Bic lighter has to have a legal disclaimer sticker on it waring you to make sure it is extinguished before putting it in your pocket. Seems tangential, but the thinking and attitude that results in that sticker is unfortunately prevalent in many posts here.

They mentioned in an update in April I believe that they had hundreds of vehicles out and about driving around doing proving tests for various systems etc to ensure they delivered a quality product to us.
I meant it's very possible they already have hundreds of production vehicles ready in launch green.

The commercial side of the business is why I was willing to place a deposit. To me, this speaks to the viability of the company.

This is such a straw man argument you keep repeating.
I don’t think there’s anyone arguing that Rivian is contractually obligated to deliver exactly as originally announced and without any changes. Most, if not all, understand all statements are subject to change and not contractually binding — we get that. Just like we get the other point you’ve raised before that nobody is obligated to buy — they can take their deposit and not buy if they don’t like it.
Instead what the comments generally point to is disappointment in communicating current details by a company that claims to be customer-focused and transparent.
I’m personally not overly concerned. If my Guide called today and asked me to configure for delivery in four weeks, I would gladly do so and count on the trial period upon delivery... particularly because I am expecting that I’d get more info from the Guide on colors and wheel/tire performance that I need to help me configure my R1T.
However, I recognize others may not be at that comfort level. I don’t think those fellow forum members are whiners too stupid to understand a basic disclaimer allowing Rivian to change details. I get it: this close to first deliveries it is strange — and, to some, troubling — that basic info isn’t know and communicated. Had I gone through with my very early Mach-E reservation, I would’ve done my “test drive” in my own vehicle, but at least I would’ve seen videos of the vehicle interface before then. Hell, at this point we haven’t even seen photos of the final interior purportedly going into production next month.
So your comfort level, like mine, may be different than that of others, but I recognize they have some legitimate questions... and those concerns are not related to the fact that these idiots who couldn’t operate a lighter without a warning label don’t understand a basic disclaimer.

Rivian has similar disclaimers as well, so I don’t understand this argument at all.
Options, specs and pricing may change as we approach production
Additionally, Rivian’s website has multiple pictures front and center of the old “prototype” version of the vehicles. They know with certainty that the production vehicles are different looking and have fewer/different features than the ones highlighted front and center on their homepage. So any argument that they aren’t releasing anything until it’s final goes right out the window. They clearly have no problem showing things that they know aren’t making it into production. If that was a concern, they certainly would ensure that the exterior images they show are as close to production intent as possible.

I think we just need a little more patients here. Do we wish for better communication? Of course, there must be a reason we are not privy to that they are choosing what, and at what cadence, they are letting information out.

Clearly they are playing the long game, if you read the below article about all of the trades in the Normal facility, it is readily apparent they have plans well beyond the initial launch of these three vehicles.

https://www.wglt.org/local-news/202...n-workers-the-benefits-go-beyond-the-paycheck

I’ve heard on multiple occasions they plan on having all LE reservations out in 2021. Based on the testing we have been seeing in the real world, I have no reason to think that will not happen.

For people thinking that COVID is a poor excuse, talk to Ford, they are reporting they will have a 2 billion dollar loss in first quarter, mostly due to COVID related supply chain issues that could impact their annual production by over a million units.

They have a lot of people they need to hire and train, there are many businesses talking about how hard it is to hire people right now impacting their ability to recover. That will get better in time, it is just going to be a little longer than expected.

For me, I want a strong viable company that is going to be around for years to come that will be there to support that incredible warranty they are providing. If that means a few more weeks or a couple more months, so be it.

You're entitled to your opinion which has obviously been soured by disappointment. But perhaps if Tesla had put a little more into the Roadster it wouldn't have been such a disaster (and I'm not suggesting they actually had the resources at the time to do anything different). Frankly, I would not be committed to Rivian if they weren't taking their time to do things right. Also keep in mind that Rivian is basically releasing 3 vehicles at once with a level of quality and refinement far beyond what Tesla was ever able to provide with the Roadster (and Tesla's consistency and quality continue to be problems today).
Not to mention that the Roadster was adapting batteries and power train into an existing Lotus frame and shell vs. designing a completely new vehicle from the ground up.

They've communicated with us. They communicated so much that we thought they were on a weekly cadence.
