Michigan is adventurousperhaps RAN can concentrate on "adventurous" locations instead of just Michigan.
Um, okay, then you're paying for that build out when you could have been reinvesting into the products you actually sell.
Nobody is going to buy a Rivian and say, I bought it for access to the RAN network.
Winning!!!Wont be an an issue for Rivian since the charging port is far forward. You will just be parked in the "wrong' stall forwards. Now Lightning and other might have issues with the short cords due to the charging point being farther back from the front on the truck.
Maybe its just me, but when mapping my routes on road trips I first look for RAN sites. I know their charging will work. call me cynical but i dont rust other companies charging. Again, i stand by my statement, full steam ahead with all the RAN sites they had already identified!Who said anything about relying just on the Supercharger network? There will be plenty of other chargers built out by other companies being funded by NEVI. (And NEVI funding can't be used for the remote locations.)
I would say that Rivian should focus on remote locations at least for now, as that is where it is needed the most right now. Then after they have that covered they can come back and fill in the rest of the network if they think it is worth it. Once the Superchargers have been made available adding a RAN site near a Tesla Supercharger site won't likely add much value to a Rivian owner.
Rivian doesn't pay, you pay.You dont know how much Rivian is paying right now for SC access.......... Is it more or less than the buildout of their own RAN network? What about renewal contract time? so there most definitely is a cost because tesal aint giving access to the SC network away for free.
and that statement that nobody is buying a rivian for access to the RAN network is a little short sighted. should say. yet. People most buy teslas for the access to the SC network, and its not far fetched to say 5 years from now that people buy Rivians for access to the RAN network.
Everyone is likely paying for this.Rivian doesn't pay, you pay.
Oh you sweet summer child..... Tesla didnt open its super charger network to rivian out of the goodness of their hearts. And while yes we pay for the actual charge. you better bet your bottom dollar that rivian paid a pretty penny to get its customers access to the SC network. Otherwise youd be looking for a magic dock at the 4 available stations.Rivian doesn't pay, you pay.
Concur 100% with the bend the knee bsRJ not going onto a twitter space to make the announcement with Elon is somewhat relieving for me here. Departure from what felt like it was becoming an established requirement means there might be other assumptions I'm making about this whole situation. But my pudding still lacks a lot of proof because this is still a closed door deal.
ahh the butt hurt. Now get NACS out of Tesla's exclusive control and into a recognized standards body, and all will be good.
Between you, me, and everyone else on this forum put together, versus RJ and the management team at Rivian, I would bet that the vast majority of the knowledge and experience about how to evaluate and monetize the Rivian brand and keep the company afloat rests within those (few dozen?) people in the Rivian management team. I'm sure that you must have expertise in something, but I doubt that Rivian is desperately in need of your forecasting ability.Convenient for you but not a source of $$$ for Rivian. Last thing they should doing is putting in chargers in remote locations.
They initiated adoption of NACS, now they should just sell off their RAN to whoever wants it, Chargepoint or ??? and get out of the charging business altogether.
If you believe that only Tesla has the best engineering minds and displays exemplary altruism to the EV community, then you let Telsa manage the standard. This will be all good.
If you want to turn the Supercharger Network into the CCS Networks.
If you want the stations to simply work without worry or fuss then you don't want leadership by committee.
