Went to check out the Greenville SC station today. First attempt I kept getting a red bollard and tried 3 times to reconnect. Gave up and moved down one. Sat for over 14 minutes while seeing “starting” on the screen but it never did. That’s pretty disappointing

Oh and I called into Rivian. Gave up on actually getting a live person after about 20 minutes. If they want to be competitive they are going to have to step up their game. Thank God my wife wasn’t with me or she would have cancelled her R1S reservation before we got home.

Interesting, I’ve charged at two separate stalls there and didn’t have any issues. Sorry you had to go through that, I’ll be there Tuesday or Wednesday at lunch and will give it another shot

One of them hasn’t been turned on yet, if you tried that one.

Have you been able to fast charge at other sites on other networks, or is this the first time you tried?

I’ve charged many places. Never an issue. This was the first RAN I tried and it was a dud experience for sure. I tried 1b and 1c for those interested in comparing. Whoever set the pedestals also did a pretty bad job of lining them up with the parking stalls which isn’t a big deal but it’s a bit annoying. 34 minutes and still hearing the same annoying hold music. Is there a single person handing all charging concerns for Rivian ?

I tried 2 different stalls but if one was off line shouldn’t it state that instead of telling me it’s “starting” but going no further?

R1S Preorder
I've charged at 3 different RAN locations in Oregon and they all went more smoothly than any other fast charging stops I've made with both our EVs over the last year. Sorry this 1st attempt didn't work for you.

I'm not trying to be glib at all, but I will say that if your wife won't want a car because a charging station doesn't work once, cancel her preorder immediately and stick to a hybrid something instead. The current condition of America's charging infrastructure isn't for the faint of heart. Better to check back in in a few years.

What number is that? Did you try 855-RIVIAN-5? That's what I'd usually call for service issues.

I’ve been a Tesla owner since 2013. I’ve had my Rivian a year next month. I think I’m pretty well aware of the pros and cons of charging infrastructure being as there really wasn’t one when I switched to EV’s. That being said, it doesn’t matter if there are DCFC’s on every corner if you can’t charge and while I have a decent amount of patience and know we are beta testers in a manner of speaking, normal drivers (ie my wife) won’t tolerate this level of service. Getting a live person in a few minutes for a charging issue is acceptable. Over an hour is frankly ridiculous

That’s the # I have for them and option 3 was for charging issues. Still holding and currently at 1 hour and 4 minutes
If you have access to a second phone, I'd suggest giving 855-RIVIAN-5 a call on it. Don't hang up your current call, so you don't lose your place in line... But I've never had to wait more than a few seconds when calling the "Rivian 5" number. I don't know if they can help with charging issues or get you to the right place "now"... But it's worth a try if you have a second phone.

I mean minor issue, tbh. But just checked, 1c offline in app. Says available. Has been offline since they opened too. My charge on 1b started immediately. Im guessing maybe you started on 1c, didn’t work but it made your vin be registered as charging and wouldn’t let you charge in another spot. Just a guess.

Wow. I've called due to RAN issues twice - both times I got through to a live person super fast. (Under one minute.) (Once was that the RAN simply wasn't active yet at that location, they had accidentally marked it active in navigation one day early; the second was one stall not working, but other stalls working.)

Finally got through at 1 hour and 25 minutes. No explanation for the long hold but thank you for the advice. I’ll certainly try that if there is a “next time” (hopefully not!)
