I predict it will start at $82,000
Add at least $10k to that. I still believe the first 3 or 4 quarters of product will be spec'd at $100k with a promise that the price will drop the year after in 2025.

I think initially Tesla will sell all they can make next year. Elon was oddly negative about it the last update he gave during the annual meeting. Hiding the updated specs and pricing cannot be a positive thing.

I'm rooting for Tesla to succeed as it would be crazy to see these things all over the road but I am still skeptical that Elon sells these to people outside of the core customer base. But we will see. I don't think this is a massive competitor to Rivian though.

Actual saying is "Couldn't care less"
Both are acceptable, "Could care less" is more of a sarcastic play on the saying, it's like, "I could care less than my already low level of caring, but I can't even be bother to put in the effort since I care so little ..."

:D

I wonder how this will perform in crash testing seeing as the steel used is supposed to be ultra hard cold-rolled steel. Will it give in all the right places to absorb crash forces?

I'm real curious about insurance. A lot of folks are already seeing price hikes for BEVs, and now there's this monstrosity, without any historical data, a totally new fabrication model, no comparable vehicles to determine repairability (and who can actually perform it). I bet insurance companies CTA and just make it sky high.

There's going to be a ton of these in the lightly used market when people driving their $40K-50K Model 3 or Y, take on the burden of a $70K-100K vehicle (because PEW PEW LOLZ), that introduces use/parking complexities (it's more than 4 feet longer that a Y or 3), costly insurance, etc.

There are some folks who will buy a Cybertruck just because they can and more power to them as they will contribute to the EV Revolution. You can't help but notice one of these things on the street where most other EV's blend in like vanilla ice cream.

I am curious about the impact of giga casts on repairability. The CT is basically 2 huge casts. Should be interesting to see.

Just because it's an option doesn't make it a good option or one that people will want. And at 80k, you aren't going to get any novelty sympathy purchases.
That's just it isn't it. People get to decide.

My take or your take on the option is irrelevant.

People on the CT forum are picking out the most miserable looking people in the photo as a game. Totally get laughing at others pain but I hope Rivian keeps the upbeat nature of their employees. Everyone that I’ve interacted with has loved working for them. The best comparison I can think of would be Starbucks as Tesla to Rivian as Dutch Bros.

There were over 3 million people applied for positions at Tesla in 2022. They hired roughly 30k, or 1% of all applicants.

If unhappy at Tesla, they should leave to a better suited employers. Life is too short to be miserable at work.

This vehicle is engineered not designed. Form follows function. it will be the most capable electric truck on the market. Specs-wise and price-wise it will be no contest. Best battery tech, best efficiency, best software, charge at all 22,000 SCs not just 12,000, won't corrode or rust, etc.

However, if you buy a truck for looks, then I can understand the hard no. Many in this forum laugh and disparage the vehicle but watch how many they sell.

It will sell on specs. Tesla better be pricing it accordingly
