Nightmare Plant Delivery Experience!

I chose an S from shop and scheduled factory pickup 7/17 flew into BMI did plant tour and went to delivery area only to find the vehicle was midnight/ocean coast not my selected shop config midight and black mountain.
Rivian had screwed up and mismatched the VINs somehow and offered no apology.
My guide Jackie only informed me that she would research the shop again and also check on FL inventory and get me a match ASAP.
To date after follow up texts and Emails up to Tony Caravano i have no answers and no vehicle.
In addition my config on the site now shows ocean coast and i cant change it and dont know who/how it got changed.
Also i no longer have access to the shop. Its a nightmare in the making.
My plan was to take the week and drive back to Tampa so i had charging and accomodation planned all along my route all of which had to change for scrambling to find return flights to Tampa.
This experience kinda takes the wind outa my sales after waiting 2 years and planning a memorable delivery experience all to vanish and leave me in limbo wondering whats next.
Message to those considering this route; Insure Rivian sends pictures of actual vehicle VIN, exterior, and interior colors to match shop config before you fly. It will avoid a lot of headache.
The plant tour was great but with several decades working in and consulting with several auto manufacturers in several assembly plants Rivian has many opportunities lets say and with 7000+ employees and hiring will not make a dime at 100K/vehicle with current systems and methods......but thats another topic that i could write a book on.
Meanwhile I wait !

FWIW this happened yesterday? Give them some time to sort it out.

It's best not to build up losing your virginity as this big earth shattering event, someone's bound to be disappointed.

So did they not have your VIN or did it not match what the shop said? I wasn't aware it was possible to get factory delivery out of the R1 shop. That's a new one for me.

That really sucks. Did your purchase paperwork say OC Or BM?

Sorry to hear you had these issues. FWIW, I wanted to do the same - I did a BMW factory delivery years ago and wanted to do the same for my Rivian. My guide said they were strongly discouraging factory pickup if you lived more than a few hours away because stuff like this was happening. It's no consolation, but it seems like there are more than just a few others with similar disappointments.

If you set yourself up for Factory Delivery, your address becomes Normal, IL. Then when you have shop access - you only see R1's that are available at the Factory.

I've had my delivery set to Normal from Day 1. I always see a lot of R1 inventory because I'm looking at that big full parking lot of R1Ts...

...all with no Power Tonneau Cover.

Sorry to hear that my forum brother. I was wondering - and was maybe going to start a poll - on how good the experience is for people who pick up at the factory vs a SC and I was worried about this kind of experience.

If you set yourself up for Factory Delivery, your address becomes Normal, IL. Then when you have shop access - you only see R1's that are available at the Factory.

I've had my delivery set to Normal from Day 1. I always see a lot of R1 inventory because I'm looking at that big full parking lot of R1Ts...

...all with no Power Tonneau Cover.

I've heard thats not the correct way to do it and it upsets Rivian's system, but who knows.

When you select from shop you do not see a VIN only when you get purchase docs i 8 step..so somehow Rivian mismatched the VIN to my shop selection or a longer shot the vehicle seats were wrong on the assy line and QA did not catch it.

Not on PA but on Purchase Summary attached to payment instructions where it was too late

Your guide was honest..for the most part my guide, my tour guide and my delivery guide were clueless of the process and all had zero product or technical knowledge.
To me i wanted the factory tour and the Rivian "adventure" driving home..but my adventure turned out much different than i could have ever envisioned.

Yup, I had planned a mini-vacation around factory pick up. Fly in, take the tour, and drive back to Pennsylvania via a Kentucky distillery adventure, lol.

Apparently not. First every vehicle is supposedly built to order. I was told that the Normal inventory could be 1) ordered and then declined 2) parked on the lot as a what they term a "produced vehicle" but not "ready to ship" vehicle i.e. needing a part or further "testing" (usually software issues as evidenced by the forums) and 3) finally units returned to sender for #1 or 2 above ( a rather expensive proposition) so theoretically you could get a vehicle that someone else rejected and there was no nearby SC so it goes back home. The process is clearly somewhat AFU'd
