Me too. Super smooth. Like can't even tell it is happening and have to check the IP to see if in hold if I want to know. Something off if not smooth.

Not an update on the status of the R1S (I'm awaiting the call from service), but an update on what I'm feeling. After 24 hours of driving a Nissan Armada and scouring cars.com for a potential replacement, I came to the realization that I am hopelessly in love with my Rivian.

I love the simplicity of the interior, the effortless panoramic views, the sure-footedness of the suspension, and the synaptic-like response as your thought to accelerate fires and becomes acceleration.

And what could I possibly transition to? Everything I have looked at has major drawbacks. And the only vehicle I realistically would be happy in after my Rivian is extremely overpriced (RSQ8). So I will not so patiently wait for my service rep to update me today on the status of the grey brick I love so much!

Speaking of "Hold" mode.. can that be disabled for All-Purpose Mode in config somewhere?
Mine is kind of harsh/jerking and I'd rather hold the vehicle manually.

No one but me notices it, but I'm used to our Model 3 with the "Choose Roll or Hold to change the stopping mode" option. I prefer the "Roll" option as I can feather the brakes at super low speeds better than the computer can.

I received an update yesterday afternoon. I was told the issue was a failed “disconnect”. The service tech described it as similar to a rear differential for the rear right side. Also a casualty was the rear right wheel speed sensor. They have ordered parts and should be done by Saturday. Not sure if I’ll have time to pick her up Monday or foot the $700 tow back home.

I’d really like to know if it was defective parts? If this has happened to others? If it is caused by making use of the torque and horsepower we have on tap?

I can't say for certain of course but if I had to guess a part failed and cause collateral damage. It was probably defective from day one. I don't think it has to do with using the torque/hp. Folks who drove their trucks hard did have halfshaft clunk but that was due to a design issue and Rivian has since come out with a fix.

I wouldn't worry too much as you have an excellent warranty. 8 years or 175,000 miles on battery and drive components.

Bummer that in cases like this they don't just offer to ship the truck back to you at Rivian cost. When I bought mine I felt that was at least inferred, but they clearly rescinded that.

Maybe someday that Menomonee Falls location will actually happen.

This is exactly why I live in fear of my car just not working one day. Happened in the beginning with Teslas, too. Amazing car (my R1S), I just fear it will stop for no legit reason one day....

Do I have this correct:
-Truck was 100% bricked so Rivian paid to have it flat bedded to their SC.
-Repairs will be 100% covered under warranty.
-Once truck is repaired you have to pay $700 for the flatbed back to you or go to the SC and drive it home yourself?

I was under the impression that if it was a "safety issue" the flatbed to the SC and delivery back to you was covered?

100% correct. I have to pay for the return tow.

I'm not aware of a legacy manufacturer* that will pay to have you towed to them even if it is a warranty/safety issue...

I come from Toyota/Honda/Chevy territory, though...

GM paid for my work colleague's Bolt to be flatbedded to their dealership when his car was bricked in his driveway.

For me it's worse than a legacy automaker. Legacy automakers have service centers 15 minutes away and give me comparable vehicles to what I leave for service.

I just think all new potential buyers need to be aware of this policy as it is a crappy one.

When I got mine....I was under impression they would pick up and drop off at my house, for things like this.
