Service center gossip has proved to be incredibly unreliable in the past. I’d take this with a grain of salt…

Over a year in and opening and closing mine up to several times a month, it still works flawlessly. But there is always a moment of anxiety in the back of my mind every time I do it. Even with the mobile option, I might finally opt for a service center visit on this to finally get my one misaligned bottom trim piece fixed. As long as my cover keeps working, I know I'm at the end of the line for replacements behind those with broken ones. That's also a good thing since it gives them a chance to learn any lessons with the replacement process before getting to mine.

Actually, I’d say service center gossip, aka SSG, is way more reliable than Rivian Comms, or say, the Tonneau Cover.

Kind of hard to believe the new powered tonneau is coming mostly because they can't even get the simple manual tonneau out to owners!
Almost as if they could do these things concurrently because they use different suppliers.

I've never heard of them having reviewed procedures before. I'd say that probably means it's a fairly reliable indicator unless the OP is a liar.

I’ll believe it when I see it,,,, on my truck.

I have a pre-scheduled service center visit for Sept 15. Here's to hoping they also get my tonneau replaced at that time, too.
Yea, I’m going in on Sept 20th. It’d be nice to get that done but I’m definitely not counting on it. IMO, if they were really this close to having a fix done, they would have announced it already.

That is about where I am. Tough having a $75,000 vehicle that we can't use for travel unless we wrap luggage in garbage bags?. I hope the latest info is accurate, but this will be the 3rd time I've been told "next month".
Until there's a fix, use suction cup mounts with a waterproof tarp to keep things in the bed dry

Lol.......I'll do that as soon as Rivian agrees to pay for the tarp & suction cups?. To be fair we only did it once. We take the ICE vehicle to travel. Just isn't as comfortable.

I still don't understand why they couldn't retrofit a manual tonneau truck with rails with the powered tonneau given the fact they are ripping and replacing everything per this description.

I live 35 miles as a bird flies from the Normal plant. I know three employees pretty well (two engineers). I don't pester them with this, but the few comments they have made make me believe they've thought this was fixed several times. "Lifetime testing" always ends up failing.

There is no mention of replacing the wiring and the button on the bed rail, two important items that trucks with the manual tonneau do not have.

Tried to schedule with my SC an appointment to fix tonneau (3 months out...). Rivian called me back and at this point fix hasn't been released yet. So no ETA

Is possible to disengage the drive gears for the slats to allow them to be pulled out and pushed in manually? I've had my truck for almost a year and have never seen the tonneau closed but have certainly wanted it closed on several occasions.

Remember this gem from earlier this year? "Rivian called - permanent fix expected in March"

I'll believe this when Rivian officially announces the roll-out and when people start getting the fix. And because it is such a big issue for Rivian, they *will* announce it when they have something to announce.

If you put your hopes in something you heard from a service center employee, or a guide, or a customer service representative, or a neighbor who works with a company that contracts with Rivian, or an "influencer", or some guy who talked to RJ in a parking lot, then you only have yourself to blame for the disappointment when that doesn't happen as "promised".
