But I need you know that I disagree and that you are wrong.
Valid. It IS the internet after all. :giggle:

But people complaining about a thread by posting to it… which brings it back to the top of the heap in the Latest Posts is a head-scratcher to me.

"Apple currently does not charge automakers, developers or users for CarPlay; the business interest is putting Apple at the forefront as cars transform into rolling computers, said Horace Dediu, an analyst with Asymco and founder of Micromobility Industries."

So how does this answer my question about the requirements for data sharing or anything else? Where's that contract I asked for? Horace or whoever else can say whatever they'd like but without the contract its just speculation. Provide it or admit you don't really have the evidence to back up your claims.

Can we stop already with commenting on threads we know we want to go away based on the title?

Seriously, if we don’t like a topic, then the best way to indicate that is to avoid opening the thread, and definitely do NOT give feedback or post a reply. With any luck the thread fades into obscurity quickly and something else which we DO like takes its place.
I'm happy to inform Rivian (who we know visits this forum) that I fully support their decision to stick to their vastly superior internally sourced software platform.
Why should we stop? A huge number of owners want it. RJ himself said if enough want it he would do it. ( Of course we don’t know what “enough” means ). Anyway, I see no harm in using every venue possible to remind Rivian that their infotainment is lacking and that there is a better option available.
This is why to comment on threads like this. If those of us who don't want AA/CP, but were just silent about it, then someone reading this forum from a position of seeking user input would get the impression that the community unanimously agrees with bringing it on board. Now the arguing and the vitriol around it is another matter...

if having shitty maps/nav makes Rivian special, in your opinion, might want to cut down on the Kool-aid. It is a phone projection option only. It is not a Trojan horse but a safety and convenience feature.

So PLEASE do some research before you make shit up again.
Wow; that's a lot of helpful speculation. Why don't you tell us what other requirements these are before you talk out of your ass again.

People just want the choice; I don't know why so many piece of shit fanboys can't admit that things could be better than how they currently are.
@1701mpl : You're not winning points here. Take a breath. Come back when you've calmed down.

Its great that so many people know what RJ want and don't want... Amazing.

Really all I want is Apple Music as a native app, just like Spotify. My Tesla has that without CP.

Also, more than that, where's the video streaming service native apps to play while charging???

So you're asking me to fact-check... Reuters?

I'm not the one whining on the internet because someone shared a link to a petition.

No one at Rivian is going to think that. In fact people that are arguing against the inclusion of Apple CP are delusional. It’s the equivalent of saying I like using paper maps so therefore I don’t want their to be navigation built into my car.

If you don’t like it don’t use it….

But yeah let’s keep it civil here. We are all people expressing opinions no reason to make it personal.

I feel that the only times when having optionality is bad (from the user’s point of view), is when the user is too ignorant to be able to choose, or the options suck.

I don’t believe that’s the case here, because people know what the Rivian infotainment system offers versus CP/AA, and CP/AA are potentially good alternatives.

Then you realize that OP is Johnny-Come-Lately on his first thread, throwing shit and getting triggered over a feature that's absent on a vehicle he doesn't even have yet...

I fully support Rivian continuing to build their own system and not resort to integrating Apple or Google into my vehicle.

"Really all I want is Apple Music as a native app, just like Spotify. My Tesla has that without CP."

This is kind of my point. RJ knows his maps suck and he would love to light up Apple music. Everyone seems to think he doesnt know this and he is forcing a sucky experience on Rivian owners. He would love to use Apple or Google maps in his UI/software, that would be a dream. Apple and Google will not let him integrate their maps without handing over the keys to the kingdom. I want CP/AA as much as the next guy... I really really do. Current maps and navigation suck. I just understand the background as to why it isn't that easy. RJ isnt delusional... he knows the task of replicating the Apple/Google services platform is impossible (he has Amazon... but they dont offer much) This is the power Google and Apple have. That's how it works in big tech. The best thing RJ can do is grow the business which will give him a little more leverage(like Tesla volume.) Right now he has zero in a meeting with Apple or Google.

Although I don’t claim to know any details of their collaboration and/or agreements, I’d be very surprised if over-protective, stubborn, and obsessive Ferrari handed over “keys to the kingdom” to get CP on their vehicles.
