Trading R1T - remove running boards?

Hello

So picking up my R1S soon and traded the R1T to Rivian (they offered me the best and an awesome price) - question is should i remove my almost new EVMaxx Running Boards or would that be a dick move?

They didnt ask me any questions on what accessories were on the truck ( like other websites do) other than my License Plate and State based on which they gave me my price. I could sell the running boards to someone at a great discount - win win for both parties.

You do what you think is best, but it seems like a lot of work to then just sell them at a discount. I would probably just leave them on there and let the next person who gets your truck enjoy them.

If you gave Rivian no indication that the running boards were installed (pic or otherwise), I'd remove them and sell them to someone you know. If, and only if:

You can return the truck to identical specification as before the running boards were installed. No missing panels, holes, etc. This is of course not a legal requirement, just my sense of "the right thing".

Many others will have a different perspective, but you asked, so.......

When GM bought my Bolt EV back they said they didn't care about the hole in the bumper for the hitch after I took the hitch off. They actually told me to remove all accessories the vehicle wasn't purchased with. Just a datapoint, and obviously a different situation.

My understanding is that they were not re-selling those; correct?

They are, but low priority for them to get them back on the market because of all the other vehicles that they needed to replace the packs for.

I removed mine and sold them on the forums here.

I asked when I traded my R1T for the R1S if they would give me any value for the running boards, aftermarket ppf, and tint. The response was that they base their price off of the Monroney sticker.

Like with you, they value they gave for the trade was heads above anyone else; just slightly less than what similar builds and miles were going for BAT and CAB pre-buyers fees. With the WA sales tax break on trades and the ease of trade, it was a no brainer.

I don't think they care about much....
My T was still sitting in the SC parking lot as of last week when the battery finally died (I could still see it in my account).

If they are going to resell it, I assume they'd take the running boards off and do what ever else they needed to do to make it "certified pre owned". If they are selling it to Cox to for final resale, then maybe they'll get some money for it.


The way I see it, you paid for the accessories, you might as well try to recover some value of they aren't giving you anything for it. They are going to have a hole in their panels either way....
