I was unlucky twice…once with terrible paint (vin 1500) and the next one with ongoing issues with the front driver’s side half-shaft. (Round 3 coming up at service center, waited 3 months for an appointment) I WANT the issues fixed cuz it’s an amazing vehicle overall….basically, you have 7 days/1000 miles to review the vehicle and if it’s not for you or you get bad vibes, return it.
If I decide to return an R1T, I don't expect to but..., if I do return do I get the sales tax back and other sundry costs associated with a purchase?

Yes, you should get the total you paid back.

38,000 miles on our R1T (since June 2022), including some travel trailer towing, no major issues, absolutely love it. The long warranty helps ease our mind about potential future problems. No, this isn't a "normal" purchase for us, and yes we expect some bumps in the road here and there, but it's worth it to hopefully move the driving world in the EV direction.

So that's our experience, from the "very happy with our Rivian" side of things

Since I am the original poster of this thread I thought I should circle back. I decided to move forward and take delivery in the next month. I'm pretty excited. Having done a ton of diligence and looked at other options I know this is the best option for me. Just crossing fingers I don't have a lot of service needs because that is what seems to be the achilles heel for the company right now.

FWIW I'm in the same boat and have a lease ending in March, so I've been keeping track of the build year/month when people post issues. My observation has been that a disproportionate number come from earlier builds (22 / 1H 23), and most people only have had to deal with the service center once or twice. The R1S is still by far my top option.

Please do post/DM your timeline once you place the order. I'm trying to time it so that I get my delivery with not too much overlap on my current car.
