It is not a single failure point component.

Don't equate it to the back of your truck falling off as you drive down the highway.

I sent my truck in a couple weeks back for seemingly routine items that only needed a day. During service, the staff found my rear subframe was cracked and ordered a new one, putting my truck out of commission while I had a couple trips across the pass planned. Luckily, the Bellevue staff is AWESOME and saved my hide!

The day I got the fully charged loaner, I headed to Cle Elum for an annual military honors ceremony. The Enterprise Nissan Leaf was not going to make it in that awful weather, but the Rivian made it a breeze.

We made it to Wenatchee and biked a couple days while staying at the State Park near town. Then on a whim, we decided to head north for LARCH MADNESS and do a couple hikes in the North Cascades. We scored a spot at a state park outside Winthrop and headed west from there, riding again in Arlington.

Big thanks to Bellevue staff, especially Clare, for keeping me well apprised of the repairs and setting me up for success with a loaner! Even with 20" ATs, the guessometer was incredibly accurate and gave us total confidence in this trip.

I think you might have bigger problems than a cracked subframe. There appears to be a Predator following you?

Rivian R1T R1S When life gives you a cracked subframe...Rivian staff save the day! PXL_20231008_154734167~3 (1)

Agree. This is more like a cause of inconsistent alignment issues, noises, droop to a side, etc...

FWIW, I had literally no issues to report, just wanted my wheel UI updated. Everything aligned well, stood straight, slight halfshaft noise but I think the washers fixed that.

That is good. They probably got it before it got too bad. But as the welds fail (you got a new cast unit I am sure now and had the earlier welded subframe...at least in the rear...if your front wasnt changed, then it is still an earlier welded subframe), things may have got progressively worse.

Good deal! I have welded both front and back (4xxx build). Mine hasn't been in for service in a while so no idea if they have issues or not. Someday when it needs to go in for a tonneau I will have my laundry list of things ready..including clunking at each axle and ask they check subframes too.

They should automatically add the inspection if you get FSAM-407 for your clunks (halfshaft sound). My clunks are totally gone now! It never bothered me but wow, it's way different.

That is awesome! I had mine in early and they put in new half shafts, but that only helped for a bit. Then the clunking came back. I have been hoping they come up with a long term fix, and I am finally getting confidence they have it figured out.

Curious if that was the Douglas Munro ceremony? A very moving experience the time I went, 2015 I think. I actually thought about driving up this year, but didn't have time.

That's the one! The 75th anniversary was a big to do in 2017, last year too. This year was a big soggy, but that's why they might raincoats and vinyl combo covers!
