For the R2, I would like to see them continue the simple squared styling and stay away from the overly sculpted look with excessive cladding that Toyota has done with the RAV4. As others have said, drop some of the more expensive features and simplify the HVAC. Getting a bit higher efficiency, like 80-90 electric equivalent MPG would be good. Hopefully they will have a version that gets at least 300 miles range.

I'd also like the R2 keep a 2" hitch... with or without a cover.

I hope the design comes in smaller than the R1 but not too small. I hope it does not look like the jeeps and broncos lately. Round the corners. Not too boxy. I hope they keep the adjustable suspension. I don't need the glass roof as others have said. If they make a R2T I hope it has a mid-gate. It would be nice it it folded into the gear tunnel. I would also like to see the retractable tonneau cover out of the way, either below or in the gear tunnel.

They should give the R2 the vegan leather and put decent seating surfaces in the R1. That's my only real interior complaint. The design is elegant and tasteful, it's executed well and the wood trim is extremely well done. The pleather seating surfaces take what would be one of the best interiors on the market and put a big black mark on them.

This is why Tesla will lose market share on the top end too, they just cannot do luxury the way the Germans or even the Japanese can and even legacy auto can put a decent surface together although their designs are tasteless. Rivian has the hard part down, that's the design. Just to sully that is probably my biggest overall gripe with the vehicle.

They can't afford it anyways. The people who can are usually driving German and they all have real leather seating surfaces.

Better seats, I know some people really like them but they seem to fit you or don't and they aren't adjustable enough to make them work for everyone. It will be the reason why I might not keep this car as long as I hoped since my wife really dislikes the seats and my shoulder line up with the grove which isn't great but I can deal with it.

I hope they keep the dual hatch design in the back. I really like that I can sit on it and place items in the back without them rolling out if parked on a hill.

Get rid of the expensive stuff that don't make the car go, if somebody wants them make them optional.

Things that come to mind:
1. Glass roof
2. Removable bluetooth speaker
3. Powered frunk / tailgate (manual is just fine)
4. Electric door handles
5. Air suspension
6. Powered charge socket door
7. Automatic HVAC vents

As I said, make those things optional via a deluxe package or two, but to bring the costs down for the masses, some things need to go.

Perhaps coincidently I started a thread today basically on the same topic. I’d like to see Rivian making more things optional at the configuration stage and most of the things on your list I agree with. It’ll save us a few bucks and I dare say will probably help improve profit margin per car.

Interesting, I’m the most average sized guy and they are perfect. I must have been the market they were looking for.

I think it will work for most people but the design choice can cause issues. My Dad and I are within 1" of each other and my shoulders line up with the void in the seats where as his shoulders are below them. I know I'm not the only one but it seems like an unnecessary design that looks nice but can be impactable.

The stitching on the front of the headrest is just bad design and should be changed! I'm not sure how that was not found in testing.
