Yeah one of my complaints is that there are only two trips available (A/B) and no "lifetime" option. So I keep trip B as my "lifetime" odo (so I can keep track of efficiency etc.) and use Trip A for my seasonal tire changeovers, but that means I can't use anything for actual road trips. Would love A/B/Lifetime.
That would be awesome. I do something similar but it can be accidentally or intentionally reset. Your Lifetime display would be protected from that.

Speaking of customizing tiles, maybe the trip tile could have a third choice at the bottom for… odometer?

Rivian UI designers: bravo for moving the main controls closer to the driver! I like the driver focus and it feels like the time spent interacting with the screen will be reduced which is also appreciated. However, why put the tiles which may permit interaction at the far right and the vehicle graphic which isn’t interactive in the middle? I think it would be better to have a 3x3 grid of tiles in the middle and move the vehicle graphic to the right. I know we might sacrifice some of the logo outline graphics but I doubt any owners would complain. Something like this equally-amateurish mockup:

Of course future UI changes are assuredly in the works and I look forward to seeing what Rivian introduces.
Good point, but in your next mock up please move the wheel diagram to right in front of my steering wheel so I don't run off the road watching for FBM "Full Blue Mode" while powering out of a turn. We'd all like ALL the tiles Please :)

That’s a good point. When we’re not using ACC or highway assist, why not show a variation of that new vehicle graphic in place of the current driver’s display showing the Rivian with lane markings, pedestrians, and wheeled vehicles? Typically, all that does is remind me how it may not recognize the environment around it: diagonal cars which are straight in reality, overlapping cars, lines alternating between solid and broken, elements popping up and disappearing and appearing at random, etc.

I think it’s possible to blend the lighting info, vehicle openings status info, blind spot info, and gauge info into a comprehensive overview. Assuming it’s not too busy.

This is one of the biggest reasons I distrust Driver+... the system sees ghosts and misinterprets what's around it constantly.

I don’t understand why we have a line drawing of the battery and a whole tile devoted to battery temperature. Does anyone else think it would be better to do something like this crude mockup so that a tile is freed up for something else?

First world problem and not an issue. Quit complaining just to find a reason to complain about.

When I started this thread I was hoping people would understand the difference between offering up suggestions for improvement and complaining. Before anyone had a chance to accuse me of complaining, I wrote this just in case: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...-temperature-on-the-battery.20200/post-415086

I'm not sure what your issue is.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Perhaps this isn't your nature and if not then I do apologize but my issue is with the constant entitlement nonsense of those who get shiny new cool things and then complain how they aren't shiny, new, or cool enough. All while driving in their 100k dollar vehicles drinking their 10 dollar coffees. Drives me bonkers. Its a big issue on these forums.

After I wrote that reply I looked at their post history and they seem to go for the antagonistic / confrontational language so I’m not sure if this is just their natural way of communicating or if they’re intentionally trolling. I guess time will tell.

If I paid $100k for a car I'm definitely complaining about something because I want my money's worth. Now a $1k car may not so much. I would expect it to just make it down the street.

@SoCalRob...I appreciate your suggestion of more data on the truck graphic as I've seen other car manufacturers do that.

One of my first things I wished was for pitch and roll to be available in on road modes and moving more data to the graphic would suffice this.

And why you might ask would you like to have that data when on blacktop? Well, not every road is flat, and even some blacktop ones come with warnings....as I've been over a few times in the Eastern Sierra's:

Complaining is definitely not my nature. I make things, fix things, and make working things work better. So when I am writing about different ways of doing things, I try to look at the bigger picture: my “improvement” should not make things worse for others and it should be reasonable to implement.

I think you may have fallen into the trap many here have: you probably didn’t read all the posts to gain understanding and you commented based on the thread title and maybe after reading a few posts.

If you’d read the entire thread (only 2 pages when you wrote) I think you would’ve seen my intent. Instead, you jumped to a conclusion and came in hot with antagonistic / confrontational language. I spend a lot of time fixing miscommunication so I responded in a reasonable way rather than by getting into a flame war.

I’d truly appreciate it if you and anyone else reading this would take the time to read, understand, and be civil when on the forum. I’m hoping that you aren’t just here to pick fights and that you’ll be constructive. Thank you!

I personally disagree with the UI suggestion (I ilke the clean infographic and the visual hierarchy of "schematic" versus "meters" as distinct interests). But christ dude, you don't have to be a dick about it. He made a constructive suggestion. It's enthusiasm, not entitlement.

I'll take overeager feedback over holier-than-thou cynicism any day of the week.

Point taken and you may be right. I already apologized for maybe reading into it wrong. But my point is the same that I did mention. These forums are filled with entitlement nonsense from those that think they deserve something they don't. Unappreciative for what they do have and complain about stupid things. It's aggrevating and makes it tough to look thru when you have a real question about something.
