This is really disappointing. These sort of SW features should not be locked to create false market segmentation.

Heck, a compass and easy tripmeter access are not "pro" features. Very disappointing to have heard RJ's arguments against CarPlay for owning the software experience and seeing it applied this way.

It is not impossible that the "service" referenced has no idea what they are talking about......

This is simply bullshit if it's not a bug. There are standard dual motors in the hands of owners, and the only thing we've been told is that we have fewer drive modes.

They've been advertising this feature, and made no effort to distinguish a skimped offering.

I can see why dual motor owners are disappointed to not get this complete update. It does call into question what may or may not be covered in the future. I like this update, but not enough to upgrade from dual motor to performance dual motor if I was in that product.

I know the pitchforks are already out but this really feels like a bug or temporary limitation. The fact that the teaching UI and other hints tell users to "swipe for gauges" does not suggest intentional segmentation.

And also, segmentation/price discrimination only works if you market it and provide an upsell... secret sauce half baked disappointments are not a segmentation strategy. (Nor do I believe the customer exists who is pushed over into the Performance upgrade by a few screen widgets; or at least, not in enough volume to outweigh the customers who would be pissed off at the strategy.)

I'd humbly suggest we give it another couple updates to shake out. Feel free to oil and polish your pitchforks in the meantime.

Sorry @Dark-Fx already sharpened it and handed it over… once drawn my pitch fork must pierce hay

I agree with kylealden, this has to be a bug. If it is, I hope some of you are ashamed. If not, then I am pitchfork practice.

I certainly hope it’s a bug. I want to be clear that I posted in an effort to be productive (and admittedly vent a bit). That said overall I’m a huge fan of my truck, it’s far and away the best vehicle I’ve owned. I certainly tell everyone who stops me to ask about it.

Other than the phone charger rarely working, which I knew about before I made the purchase, I haven’t had any issues.

I didn’t buy the performance model simply because I live in a city where I can’t really use the added horsepower. Had I realized they would be introducing additional differences I likely would have purchased a different trim.

So here is to hoping it’s a bug :)

For what it’s worth when I called support they didn’t know why it wasn’t working.

Have you tried doing a hard reset?

They didn't lie, they just didn't tell the whole story. Once again Rivian's lack of communication.
My Dad always told that was still a lie.
And to the person who said, "you get what you pay for". You're right. You get 2 more motors and a bunch more drive modes. AS ADVERTISED.
This is horseshit. But I'm holding out hope for a bug. Doesn't really make sense.
