Espresso machine powered from my Rivian R1S while camping

That’s quite the commitment though, I commend it ?. I might just stick with aeropress or bump up to a $300 Breville Bambino at best.

It is a lot, but I'll do it again, it was so awesome. I always miss my espresso machine when we go away for the weekend. I don't get to use it much during the week because I don't work from home like my wife, so the weekends are my time!

looks like a profitec 600 with flow control? have the same one only use bottom less filter

did you warm up both boilers and did it take longer than at home?

Those are great. I got a Bezerra Duo DE, which is related to the Profitec, and it has served me well. Though I think I would go with a Breville Bambino for a camping situation. Profitec and Bezerra’s are heavy.

The Bezerra requires 20amps to run both boilers at the same time. The R1 has 15 amps so he’d have to run one boiler at a time.

We have a couple fellas in the Rocky Mountain Rivian club that bring coffee makers to our meet ups. One has a Breville machine, the other a Keurig. I personally keep an electric kettle in my frunk. We use it for ramen, tea, pour over coffee, etc. Truly fun times.

Hah! Don't get me wrong, I am deep in the rabbit hole of youtube reviews as I look to upgrade from my Breville Barista Pro to an HX machine, ideally with both PID and flow control. Might pull the trigger this Black Friday on the Diletta Bello+ from Seattle Coffee Gear. Does that make me "Seattle" enough?

I am going to try this next time I go camping. But most electric kettles I see on Amazon are 1500W exceeding the R1S 1400W rating. What would happen if I were to use a 1500W kettle? would a fuse pop?

Need to prepare with extra fuses?

Yup, it's exactly the same on the Bezzera. The Profitec shares a lot of the same parts with Bezzera.

Did the same thing but I had a Super Automatic machine and big mistake after driving on a bumpy dirt road for 25 miles the water in the water tank joined the beans in the adjacent hopper and had to take the whole machine apart to clean up the coffee muck.....Word to the wise, empty the water out of the tank before driving with a super automatic espresso machine.....

I've considered bringing a coffee machine but I'm not really looking for the time savings. Making coffee while camping gives me something to do that I enjoy doing. Heat up a pot of water on the stove, grind the coffee with my hand grinder, set up my aeropress, pour, bloom, pour, steep, press, enjoy.

Kettle and french press is the way to go

The Profitec only uses a 15amp outlet, it has a max draw of 1400W so it works just fine. A lot of other dual boiler machines require a lot more power. You're right about it being heavy though, it was a PITA to move, but worth it!
