You go in through the driver side wheel well. Pull back the molding and it is about a foot & 1/2 reach towards the center.Hey Boss- stupid question here and I could probably spend a day trying to research this but where is the frunk manual release cord you refer to? Thanks.
Thanks! You go in through the driver side wheel well. Pull back the molding and it is about a foot & 1/2 reach towards the center.
My car has the same issue and I am waiting for service. Were they able to fix it?2 weeks in I get the error hood latch not working. Can’t be fixed remotely. I can pull the cord for the manual release but the error won’t go away. mobile crew are supposed to be here Tuesday…and Rivian gave me Uber credits since there are no rentals.![]()
They were. It was found to be a pinched wire behind the fuse box. Once it was replaced, car went back to normal. My car has the same issue and I am waiting for service. Were they able to fix it?
Did the problem ever reoccur?I had something similar happen the other day while at a trailhead a couple hours from home. I was panicking a little, to say the least, but after quite a lot of experimentation I was able to release a sticking part in the latch just pushing around with the pliers in my multi-tool. May want to poke around in there (gently) while you wait for Rivian to show up.
Hasn't happened to me again. Admittedly I don't use the Frunk all that often, which maybe is either why it stuck in the first place, or why it hasn't had a chance to do it again. Either way, I keep a multi-tool in the truck, just in case.Did the problem ever reoccur?
I suffered the Hood latch not working error today. Drove home at the 13 mph max allowed (which I think is too slow of a restricted speed). Service said they will get back to me within two days to let me know when they can tow my R1S to the SC.
If I turn off the car and wait 1/2 hour I can then open the hood, but when I close it the error message pops up again. I'll try looking for the sticking latch part tomorrow morning.
My service date isn't until December 1, so hopefully it'll be as easy a fix as yours. And I too have probably spilled a soda in the cupholder so maybe that's the same issue. Thanks, it's good to know that it will hopefully be an easy fix. They were. It was found to be a pinched wire behind the fuse box. Once it was replaced, car went back to normal.
BUT
Last month, it happened again. Same error but a different cause. The service guy said that there is a small light directly under the cup holder, and it had a sticky residue on it. They think a liquid spilled and shorted the light which happens to be on the same circuit as the frunk. I was then advised to not keep liquids in the cups that I put in the cup holder.
