When will 2024 "Refresh" models be available?

I'm loving my R1S. When I place my order (under the old pricing), I placed 2 orders knowing I'd eventually want the Max Pack battery. Now I'm being asked to lock in my final configuration assuming I won't be able to make any additional changes from that point.

It being so close to 2024, I'm wondering when those "refresh" models will be available. There was even talk of a higher HP model in dual motor coming out.

Bottom line is I don't want to lock in or take delivery of my second vehicle if I can kick the can down the road to get a 2024 model...

Damn... that long? Then it wouldn't make sense for me to hold out...

RJ and senior management have said on multiple conference calls that the R1 line will be shut down in 2Q24 to make changes in production that will simplify the process and reduce costs. They also plan to introduce different trim models (including lower cost LFP batteries) but it’s not clear whether or not that will happen before or after the production line shutdown. My guess is after. I wouldn’t plan on seeing anything materially different from Rivian until 2H24.

I would expect 2024 models to start shipping in early 2024. However, I wouldn't expect any engineering changes from what is being delivered today until after the factory shutdown for retooling (or whatever) late spring or summer (I've seen timing references of both "summer" and "Q2"). Any significant updates to the vehicles won't likely start delivering until late summer or fall.

There is nothing official so everything you read here will be speculation. IMO I would go ahead with your order and look to trade or sell in 2025/26 when Rivian will supposedly be manufacturing vehicles with the NACS port and upgrade at that point.

We just got called to configure our R1S from a Sept 2022 reservation and spoke with a rep, She said you can hold your reservation as long as you want and you wont loose your spot in line. configure and lock in when you are ready. We will wait till the refresh late 2024 most likely.

Very interesting… now I need to weigh the premium I would get by selling my current one now (while supply is still tight), vs. my desire to get the latest and greatest Max Pack with refresh later in ‘24.
