I received an email today stating that I can elect to take delivery of the Launch Edition R1S despite not being near a service center.
It states that if I don't decide to pull the trigger on accepting the delivery before Dec 6, it will revert from the Launch Edition to Adventure. Also stating there is no option for green paint or free upgraded rims. It's been a number of years since I ordered but do the launch edition come with nicer rims?
Are others that got the same email pulling the trigger? I'd honestly like to wait as long as possible so hopefully some of the current outstanding issues like keyless entry difficulty and phantom drain can be improved. Maybe they have and I've been out of the loop.

Congrats on being the first HI customer officially offered to take direct delivery! (That I am aware of)
I imagine it’s because they plan to cease Launch Edition production at some point. And there are enough Rivians roaming around the islands that they are confidante enough to slowly roll out some island deliveries. Perhaps that service center is close to opening up!

The LEs came with a free wheel upgrade. Launch Green was the only LE-specific color. These are some of very last LE trucks being built, so it’ll be interesting to see how your build shakes out.
FYI I saw 2 R1Ts north of Kona near Kamuela 2 weeks ago. Gives me some hope that I can take mine over when we make the move, knowing you are able to take delivery - means service will at least be possible. Unclear if they’ll serve each island, though.

Congrats! That’s great news. I’m guessing that Oahu SC is on track to open in the summer of 2024. I’m also guessing there are enough Rivians in the state by now that they’re confident they can provide service.
I’m in Kona right now. Haven’t seen any Rivians yet but when I was here last month a white R1T passed me while I was on my bike right in town on Ali’i drive.
I’m still planning to ship my R1S here early next year, but I need to try to coordinate the Matson shipping with my travel plans, which have not yet been made.

May be helpful to state what Island and town, as well as time frame. There are a lot of picnic tables in Hawaii...

Did ya notice where I live in side bio- there are only 4 Rivian on that island- I know one of the owners but not the other two. Thanks for the suggestion regarding post.
