I'm worried they'll price the new quad as high as the CyberBeast, which would be out of my desired price range. But, then I wouldn't have to worry about deciding between the Quad and Dual. :-/
It's going to be all of a hundred. My WAG is somewhere between 110 and 120. Above that, and you're really reaching and getting into Aston-type territory, which is just a whole different class of the car. I don't think Rivian can compete in the ultra-premium space.

The more powerful quad motor has been rumored for awhile so I think that is probably a go. I’ve heard the question with that is whether it will only be offered in a “premium” trim.

The other rumors just popped up recently so who knows, but they sound believable. We know they were already working on 800v for the future. Maybe it‘s ready to roll??‍♂
They hold at least one patent for a switching system to toggle voltage.

I have 2 friends who work or worked at Rivian in electrical engineering and they have been working on 800v for a long time. 800v will be here sooner than later. This makes sense for a new 4 motor system.

I’m skeptical that LFP is going to make for a better product, especially in cold weather. Possibly a cheaper and less supply bottlenecked product. I’m hoping it’s some next gen magic, but I don’t think Rivian is going to get access to the magic before a bigger manufacturer will.

Additional rumor - R1 refresh will also include self-diagnosing headlights.

Ooops, wrong thread. ?

As does heat pump,

Well LFP is in the Polestar and over the years they have optimized it with Preconditioning and just overall management.

So it is possible for Rivian to deliver something better. The only issue I see is space as LFP tends to be less power dense compared to what is used currently.

The EDV is LFP, they've been making them a while. Further, the R1T was designed for a 180kWh battery in max pack config, so presumably it has 30% extra space with might make LFP work on the dual. Plus, if it's going on a $80k truck the tax credit doesn't matter, so why not use made in China packs, that would save a lot of money. I think the only real downside is the weight, need to keep it under 7500lbs for NY buyers at least.

I think the 180kWh was with packs in the underwear space and even heard in the tunnel as well. The rumored location/s varied over the years. I’ve had a reservation on a max pack quad since November 2018. I gave in and picked up a Large pack quad in Launch green when it was in the shop.
